Interesting how, when going through the starting field, Jerry Punch comments on the two impressive rookies in 1990, Jeff Burton and Joe Nemechek. If only he knew at the time the careers those guys would go on to have...

Question you here what's sounds like v8s and v6s motors mixed in the Busch series from 1985 up to 1988 were they v8s then v6s to cut speeds or was Winston cup experimenting like bobby Allison suggested at 1988 Winston 500 to ESPN of running full power v6s instead of the restricted v8s what's the displacement on the Busch series motors and hp ratings very good racing

The Buicks were 262 cid and roughly 500hp Unrestricted. The Busch series still ran restrictor plates at the Superspeedways.

Alright, please enlighten me. Which NASCAR race was the first to run at night? One Hot Night was spectacular, but that couldn't be the first night race in NASCAR history.

So for the "Winston" Cup side, one of the first night broadcasts I know of is the 1984 Coors 420 at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway. As for the "Busch" Grand National division there aren't too many early broadcast races. (Pre mid/late 80's), so unless someone else has a records book that shows the start time of the races, it may be hard to get an exact answer. :-) That being said, as it wasn't until the mid 80's that most of the races were broadcast, I would guess the Official 1st night race would have dated back to the early 70's, and possibly the late 60's at some local dirt track.

Night racing went all the way back in the days of running dirt. The first Modern Era night race was at Nashville. It was looked at as something antiqued. The thought of the day was you run Saturday Night Races at night and you run Winston Cup races on Sunday afternoons. Then Bristol moved there race to night and it began to take off, and the rest as they say is history.
