Riptide released it as a poster, it was when he was at the highest point of the roll, looked like he was standing on the roof of a pipe barrel, the amount of surfers that seen the poster and refused to believe that he made it, I loved seeing There jaw hit the ground when I would show them the footage.

I remembered watching this as a kid just super psyched on Stewey's huge air roll and stoked that he won. but watching it now in my 40s, I have to admit, Kainoa shoulda won that contest, he was robbed. Kainoa was getting deep pits, coming out with the foam and even got barreled 2x on one wave. I also remembered reading an interview in Pit or bodyboarding mag how Kainoa thought he shoulda won(he was right!). oh well, it is what it is.

Stewart was leagues ahead of competition, but he was lucky to get the win, tanner is the modern day Stewart, leagues ahead of the competition.

totally agree. saw this in my teens on tv, then 30 years later in my 40s, it was CLEAR that McGee should have won. deep tubes coming out riding the foam ball, getting shacked 2x on one wave...wow. robbed.

I surfed for 3 months of the year,I lived in Philadelphia,but had house on LBI,the people I surfed with and I where unbelievable at this sport,winning contest ,beating locals who could surf all year,i wish we went to Hawaii and blow them away.
