My dad had two Super Teneres in the 90s, had to sell them when I was still little. Fast forward to 2013, he imported two Africa Twins of similar vintage. We had them ever since. In his experience, Africa Twin is made better, easier to control and service and is well rounded. Super Tenere is faster tho, where the AT tops off at 180 km/h and can be pushed barely past that, Super Tenere does 200 km/h easily. Better at highways, but AT beats it by endurance and offroad. At least from his experience. He racked a total of about 50,000 km on the Teneres and about 113,000 km on his 1998 Africa

Africa twins were generally considered the better build quality, but were also about a grand more when new though

Me and a mate rode both around Australia in the early 2000s, I bought an Africa Twin, my mate bought a Super Ten, we swapped around often and i preferred the XTZ, it felt better on tarmac, and on the dirt roads that are everywhere in the outback, (it also pulled better wheelies :-) In side by side roll on's from 90kph on it would beat my XRV. We had planned to sell them both when the trip was over, but i ended up selling the XRV buying the XTZ off my mate and shipping it back to NZ. Wish i never sold it, as they are hard to find here now.

26L tank, 6 to 8 liters per 100km fuel consumption, depending on your throttle hand and carburettor condition. Up to 10L if it needs carb rebuild.
