同社のヒット作品「WWFスーパースターズ」の続編。今作では前作で活躍した6名の実名レスラーに、新たに6名が加えられ総勢12名のレスラーが登場する。また、プレイモードが2種類になり、前作と同じ10人のキャラクターから2人を選ぶ「タッグマッチ」の他に、好きなレスラーを1人選びリング上の全てのレスラーと戦って生き残りを争う「バトルロイヤル」プレイが追加されている。タッグマッチは3カウント、ギブアップ、リングアウトで勝負あり、バトルロイヤルはリングから出た時点で負けとなる。4人まで同時にプレイできる。

WWF Wrestlefest was released in July 1991.
Also licensed to Tecmo.
The only WWF Technos game to not feature theme music for any of the individual wrestlers.
The announcer is Michelle 'Mike' McGuirk, who would sometimes substitute for Howard Finkel, the WWF's longtime ring announcer. McGuirk worked as a ring announcer for the WWF between 1988 and 1993 before she left because, according to her, she refused sexual advances made upon her by WWF owner Vince McMahon.
The game's announcer incorrectly announces Sergeant Slaughter's finishing move. Slaughter's finishing move (digging a knuckle into the opponent's temple) is announced as a 'Cobra Clutch', whereas that move is called 'The Torture Bar'. A Cobra Clutch looks totally different : DiBiase's Million Dollar Dream is a Cobra Clutch.
You can beat the Legion of Doom and get their titles via a count-out in the Tag Team portion of the game (Saturday Night's Main Event). This is incorrect : in pro wrestling, a championship only changes hands via a pinfall or a submission. If the champion/champions are counted-out or are disqualified, they lose the match, but they hold on to their titles.
The rules for the Royal Rumble are not quite correct. In WrestleFest, you can be eliminated by being thrown from the ring, or the traditional means (pin, submission, etc.). This is not correct. Ever since the WWF Royal Rumble started, the rules for elimination have never changed. The ONLY way to be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope. No pinfalls, no submissions. In fact, the referee should not be in the ring during a Royal Rumble as he remains on the outside of the ring to confirm elimination has occurred.

At the time of the game's release, the actual WWF Tag Team Champions were The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags) who are absent from the game, although the Legion of Doom would defeat the Nasties to claim their first WWF Tag Team Titles one month later at Summerslam 1991.

I always loved when a fresh wrestler entering the Rumble would pop up on the right side of the screen posing/taunting before making their way. For 1991 this was way ahead of it's time. I miss the Federation.

Sgt Slaughter was my favorite wrestler because he had that bodyslam outside the ring and the back drop over the top rope which I used to quickly get rid of enemies.

Slaughter was also my favorite. I used make him jump off the top rope and do the Jimmy superfly splash.

The cobra clutch was similar to Million dollar dream maybe that's why Slaughter did that move.

Gord S No he did that move because it was his real life finisher at the time you see this game was made and came out right around the time Slaughter second return to the WWE as his Iraqi sympathizer heel gimmick and didn't really have a new finisher to go with it so he used that until he started to used the Camel Clutch.

Nice run. I often use Ultimate Warrior and often use the Irish Whip to toss the opponent to the ropes and when they return, press B to flip them out of the ring. works very good most of the time

I was born in 1991 when WWF Wrestlefest came out yep 1991 the year myself Deonte Merritt Deonte Lamar Merritt was born I love this game has old legends when WWF Superstars came on that day and same year I was born like everybody else that looks the same like I do on October 26th, 1991 the day I was born when Jake The Snake The Undertaker and everybody in wrestling was going at it toe to toe when I was born on that Saturday in 1991 26 years ago.

You have to win the initial "power dominance" game then throw your opponent out, or be able to toss an opponent running at your over the ropes. If you try to wear your opponent out, you'll burn precious time, and in "Royal Rumble" mode you don't get a "partial heal" if you defeat someone.

How do you keep doing the body slam out of the ring? I could barely ever do that and never figured out exactly how. *sigh*

You have to do it when the enemy is still at pretty high damage. You want to drag them over to the side of the ring, then press away from the ropes and the punch button.

Every other grapple on an opponent still high on health can result in a body slam. After you get the second punch in on a grapple (indicating that you will win the grapple, press the attack button one more time to put your opponent in a head lock. Walk them over the to ropes and at the last second turn around and then hit the punch button again. (You'll see that on the alternate lock ups that he doesn't even bother dragging his opponent to the ropes; he just gets the grapple out of the way.)

@@pigs18 Can all the guys throw opponents over the ropes with body slams because I'm having enormous trouble doing it with Ulimate Warrior and EArthquake whislt I was managing with Hogan

@@maltborg I just tried and I had no issues with Warrior but I did see what you ran into with Quake. It seems he's just as likely to try a powerslam as he is a regular body slam and I couldn't pick up a reliable pattern as to when he throws either.
