同社のヒット作品「WWFスーパースターズ」の続編。今作では前作で活躍した6名の実名レスラーに、新たに6名が加えられ総勢12名のレスラーが登場する。また、プレイモードが2種類になり、前作と同じ10人のキャラクターから2人を選ぶ「タッグマッチ」の他に、好きなレスラーを1人選びリング上の全てのレスラーと戦って生き残りを争う「バトルロイヤル」プレイが追加されている。タッグマッチは3カウント、ギブアップ、リングアウトで勝負あり、バトルロイヤルはリングから出た時点で負けとなる。4人まで同時にプレイできる。

WWF Wrestlefest was released in July 1991.
Also licensed to Tecmo.
The only WWF Technos game to not feature theme music for any of the individual wrestlers.
The announcer is Michelle 'Mike' McGuirk, who would sometimes substitute for Howard Finkel, the WWF's longtime ring announcer. McGuirk worked as a ring announcer for the WWF between 1988 and 1993 before she left because, according to her, she refused sexual advances made upon her by WWF owner Vince McMahon.
The game's announcer incorrectly announces Sergeant Slaughter's finishing move. Slaughter's finishing move (digging a knuckle into the opponent's temple) is announced as a 'Cobra Clutch', whereas that move is called 'The Torture Bar'. A Cobra Clutch looks totally different : DiBiase's Million Dollar Dream is a Cobra Clutch.
You can beat the Legion of Doom and get their titles via a count-out in the Tag Team portion of the game (Saturday Night's Main Event). This is incorrect : in pro wrestling, a championship only changes hands via a pinfall or a submission. If the champion/champions are counted-out or are disqualified, they lose the match, but they hold on to their titles.
The rules for the Royal Rumble are not quite correct. In WrestleFest, you can be eliminated by being thrown from the ring, or the traditional means (pin, submission, etc.). This is not correct. Ever since the WWF Royal Rumble started, the rules for elimination have never changed. The ONLY way to be eliminated is to be thrown over the top rope. No pinfalls, no submissions. In fact, the referee should not be in the ring during a Royal Rumble as he remains on the outside of the ring to confirm elimination has occurred.

At the time of the game's release, the actual WWF Tag Team Champions were The Nasty Boys (Brian Knobbs and Jerry Sags) who are absent from the game, although the Legion of Doom would defeat the Nasties to claim their first WWF Tag Team Titles one month later at Summerslam 1991.

Can't wait until RetroMania Wrestling comes out early next year. It's the spiritual successor to the amazing Wrestlefest. I still hold this as a gold standard of wrestling games. (And oh, BTW, the Road Warriors will be in it.)

Tis was my favorite team to use when playing this game. DiBiase would start, do a lot of the work, the Warrior would come in and wreck shop.

The trick though, was to do knee-smash and elbow smash/clothesline attacks quickly to take Earthquake and LoD off their feet and disorient them. Earthquake had size and strength, LoD have skill and endurance. You need to use speed and coordination to make sure they couldn't use their "trump cards" before you could "use yours."

このゲーム面白かったなぁ〜。テクノスのギラギラした筋肉感が当時のど派手なWWFと異様にマッチして、プロレスゲームとして最高の出来だった。これに出演したレスラーの半分以上がもう鬼籍に入ってしまって、時の流れの早さに呆然とするわ。それにしても上手いな！！！

Looks like this was released post-WrestleMania VII. Loved this game growing up as a kid. They probably could've thrown in a Single Elimination tournament where you face Hogan for the WWF Championship which would've made him an unplayable wrestler in that mode.

That was my special technique grabbing for the head they roll I follow and hit them with the clothesline and ted and warrior was the ultimate team as both could catch there opponents with endless charging attacks as they roll to their feet classic

@@cherokeefit4248 I agree. I played in the arcades frequently from the mid 80s to the mid 90s, and arcades was far far superior to any console. Infact the only console that came close to arcade graphics was the neogeo. Sega, Nintendo, playstation. They had no chance.

try the punch,punch,punch,punch if you hit Legion of Doom 60 times they don't get up & you can pin them.

Doesnt work on LOD. They pick up speed all of a sudden. And animal can hit you with a piledriver in the first attack. Once you slow down and grab stomach its game over

I've seen a lot of demos but this is the perfect way to play this game. Except for two things. Put dibiase first and warrior second. Second when the tired player is going back to tag its partner, you can still get him with a clothes line.

Yikes!! You play like me exactly and ya know what that's who I choose as well. I would beat the shit out of opponent to where you could do special move to them and tag in dibiase and get the million dollar dream move and what do you know I win the match.
