The Bentley Turbo R had freight train like power with business jet opulence. If you had Michael Jackson money in the early 90's, this was your ride.

@@OfficialMarkieB Actually, a 2021 Bentley Flying Spur V8 starts at just under $200,000. Having VAG scale things up has really brought down the price of modern Bentleys.

@@AkioWasRight Actually, Flying Spur is one class bellow, the Turbo Rs modern equivalent is Mulsanne Speed (sadly discontinued this year) with a base price of $338,325. The price listed in this video was as tested, with all the options and Mulsanne Speed options are plentiful, so the "averagely" equipped one will cost you around $400,000. The price has gone up over the years...

@@peterorincak7579 The Flying Spur also replaced the Mulsanne as their flagship. It was made larger and more luxurious for the current generation, to fill the market gap left by the discontinued Mulsanne, so it's also considered a successor to the Turbo R.
@peterorincak7579
@peterorincak7579 3 жыл бұрын
@@iventonart9474 The Flying Spur is not a real replacement for Mulsanne. Yeah it replaced Mulsanne as a flagship, but that's only because there's nothing above it at this moment. It literally is just 1,7cm longer than its predecessor, and still it's 26cm shorter than Mulsanne and 56cm shorter than EWB version - it's a totally different class of a car. That's like saying Mercedes E-Class is the same thing as S-Class - well it just isn't. And it's not only about size but also the finish - Mulsanne took 500 hours to build vs 200 hours for Flying Spur. The body was hand welded and sanded so that the roof is seamless (which Flying Spur or any other car doesn't have, besides Rolls-Royce). Comparing a price of a base V8 version of Flying Spur to Turbo R and saying they've gotten cheaper over the years is just completly false. Turbo R was the top of the line "performance" version so you'd have to compare the price of the Flying Spur Speed version (which is not yet out) and still it just wouldn't be the same category as I said. It's rumored that there will be electric replacement of Mulsanne in a few years.

This review was a real birthday treat. I grew up in that area, seen both that bridge and some of those roads. Longwood Gardens is great for a visitor, but as a kid being dragged to it for the 100th time it wasn't appreciated. The inn on the other hand was where my high school held a graduation dinner, an expensive but nice place.

@Just_Pele
@Just_Pele 3 жыл бұрын
@@vel6979 Not just that. For instance, while a used Roller is very similar in cost of ownership (crazy high), a used Maybach is half the cost. Add to that the certifiably insane cost of servicing the hydraulic brakes/suspension (which uses a unified mineral oil system), and you have a car that's almost too expensive to fix, when (not if) that specific system breaks, which is kinda why Turbo Rs are so cheap in the first place. Still, if some crazy soul (like Tyler Hoover) has already bit the bullet and done a full rebuild of the hydraulics, and chased down the gremlins in the electronics, that inevitably crop-up after 30 years, this could be a nice used car to own and enjoy. Just make sure to account for the sometimes shocking amount for oil changes and basic service.

@@BigWheel. Yep. KZfaq pays based on specific traits of the viewing audience; this is primarily for the purpose of targeted advertising. The more desirability the audience has, the more it pays, as advertisers will see a high return per view in comparison to other aggregate demographics (such as South Asia, Africa, or Latin America. It is based on $/1,000 views iirc. This particular show would attract a relatively high priced demographic, commercially speaking. (primarily North American, with some of the rest being Western European, both of which are high net worth individuals on average. The automotive enthusiast market is also a relatively high paying market for several reasons). Western audiences typically draw between $2 and $8 per 1,000 views; this amounts to $2,000-8,000 per million views. If I had to guess, this type of programming would be in the $4,000-6,000 range based on my mediocre knowledge of he process. That said, it probably doesn’t matter as far as actors are concerned; generally speaking, they wouldn’t be entitled to royalties in perpetuity. They are usually contracted to play their role, and draw a nominal fee. The company who hired them is ultimately the owner of the intellectual property, and is not only in charge of distribution (television, youtube, whatever), but also the recipient of ad revenue from sources such as KZfaq. If I’m not mistaken, Motorweek was actually part of a Public programming channel on Cable, and therefore would be a pseudo government entity

mercedes didn't have anything that could compete with this back in '91 probably a W126 560 SEL but that would have been slower W140 came out in '91 but the fast ones didn't exist yet

$181,000 are you freaking kidding me? in 1991? The thing barely has any notable features worth 181k

It was a hand-built car with the absolute best quality materials. That's why it weighs over 5,000lbs, gets 10/13 MPG, and cost $181k.

@@ShaiyanHossain Considering you could buy 3 separate cars that had those features... and a house for 181k in 1991. No most definitely not. it's a terrible value for a car nobody even remembers

Even at $180K, the styling is truck like. My least favorite Bentley.
