This is the first test drive. The V12 was parked for the last 11 years. After I bought the car I restored some things. Still a lot of work to do... If you want to support the channel www.buymeacoffee.com/synthwav...

Magnifique ! A full stock restauration ! With a stock exaust. And 16 inches wheels. Love that kind of work. I ´ve got an e39 523i and i find the 90´ Bmw so desirable

I originally owned a 1991 850i 12 cylinder and after 3 years and excessive maintenance costs sold it. I missed the car so much I found an identical 1994 840ci which I have driven for 15 years. Though the horsepower difference is slight, 282 vs 300, he power delivery of the 12 cylinder is absolutely linear with no feeling its going to limit. The 8cylinder has a throatier exhaust sound. The maintenance of the 840 has been minimal compared to the 850 as many models shared the 840 engine and drivetrain. Cosmetic items and parts are becoming more difficult to source so if you buy one of these cars and you see spare parts for a reasonable cost, grab them.

Good to know and thanks for the good advice. Yes spare parts are quite hard to come by.

300 is with the very limiting original ECU and gearbox mapping, no full throttle under 4500rpm and with that god awful exhaust that robs at least 20hp from the engine. The more you tune it, the better it gets. You must be DYI able and to have the proper documentation to avoid the shop visits. Otherwise, not a hard engine to understand at all

Fantastic work, hopefully you can find some time to help me out with my 840ci m60 engine, there is not much good people around here that is weling to help you. After 20 years people tell me, ohhh no we don't service your car, is terrible to work on it.... Cheers from Raleigh nc

Greetings! I am also restoring my Bmw E31 V12. I have a question, after putting everything back together and when you started the engine the first time, did you have any overheating problems? Did you have to bleed the cooling system multiple times? Or did it hold good temperature right away? Thanks!
@synthwavegarage Жыл бұрын
Hi. After I put everything together I bleed it once and the temperature gauge stays in the middle. Tried again the next day but there was no air in it
@honlu6725 Жыл бұрын
Interesting, I've been battling a overheating issue after I replaced all the components in the cooling system. I've bled the cooling system for many many times. Im starting to wonder if the heater core is leaking a bit and sucking in air. I've already done chemical test for head gasket leak and couldn't detect any combustion in the coolant.

Hallo, can you please tell how much was the parts? Are all parts OEM or is possible to get some not OEM parts? Thanks

Most of the parts are OEM ,parts are directly from the BMW dealer and hunting for parts on ebay 7000€-8000€
