The power of Porsche is rarely measured on a dyno, but you can always tell when it’s taken hold of someone. Eli Kogan is certainly no stranger to the marque from Stuttgart, and today we’re joining him for a spirited run through the gears in the type of empty space in the Arizona desert that almost audibly eggs on right feet. In between heel-and-toes and counter-steering his Maritime Blue 964 RS (it’s not an RS America either, despite the US plates), he explains the reasoning behind his Porsche infatuation-from the first triple-digit speed run in the passenger seat of his dad’s 993, to the race-derived nature of the legendary RS line, but we’ll shut up now and let him and the flat-six do the talking.

Ach du liebe!!! What a fantastic piece of Stuttgart engineering!!! I have a 1990 964 C2 and I often tell her "I know when you grow up, you'll want to be a Carrera RS!!!" Excerpt for a few of the uber-expensive 964 variants like the Leichtbau, Turbo 3.6 Flachbau, etc IMHO this is the epitome of 964's. Thanks Eli for sharing your gorgeous car!!! Maybe we'll see you at Rennsport Reunion? Cheers lad!

My 2 cents: I think it's a very good film about the 92 RS, I also think it is a special car, but I am 100% sure you can modify a C2 to get basically an RS. Ditch the sunroof, mod the G50, take all interior out, reinforce couple welds, put in Carrera RS lightweight carpet and RS doorcards,, ditch the steering assist, change for bilsteins and let them be adjusted to RS spec, add an original Tequipment front strut brace, change rear bumper, put in Pole positions, ditch the front carpet, buy an RS programmed EEPROM for the motronic, ditch the A/C, replace the glass with lexan, put in a lightweight FW and clutch, replace rear engine mounts, give your 7 & 8s Cup1s 225Fr/255rear and an RS alignment, optional: put on big reds (although original 4 pots fr/rear should really be fine with good pads). Now you have 99% of an RS and it costs a third at most. I don't know how one can say an RS is so much different from a base C2 when it's almost the same car other than been very biased.

How else will you maintain mythical value of your car than blowing smoke. By the way just today its worth has risen by another $2000 because the rich owner farted in the Recaro leather.

Very nice and very desirable. I was fortunate enough to own a 1990 C4 for a few years. I took my dear mum for a drive in it and asked if she was up for a few 'spirited' corners. She was quick to affirm and I'll always remember her giggling like a schoolgirl as that beautiful little car did what it does so well around the next few bends! Thanks for sharing - yet another wonderful vid from you guys. Cheers from Sydney, Aust - Dave

Without looking up the word in the urban dictionary I'm going to assume that trustafarian means he's a trust fun guy, sorry, I've never heard that one before. That said, hating on someone because they come from means doesn't apply here. That's his lot in life and there's nothing wrong with that! I'll never understand jealousy about money, I mean I'm a part of the working poor but I enjoy these vids and attend cars and coffees here in Chicagoland. At any show I attend I'm surely the lowest income person there but the love of cars brings everyone together and learn something every time I attend them. Just enjoy the video, how it's made and the story to go along with them...oh yeah, the car too!

I owned one of these and raced it for 2 years ( with a few mods, roll cage and slicks ), the standard suspension settings are poor, best change to uprated and more modern shocks or rebuild originals with different valving. Also be aware there are no bump stops on the rear torsion arms so if a shock bolt breaks ( mine did ) you will be 3 wheeling down the road...
