On this old car I would think that you should take the cam cover off and check the cam chain connecting the cams ! The rubbing block for the tensioner can give you drama!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊🍺🍺🍺🍺 just sayin

Sounds like the tension on the either cam belt or/both balance shaft belt is too tight. The slack on these belts are way less than you would think and are best done with e belt tensioner. Too tight runs the risk of snapping and killing the engine. Whereas, too loose, you run the risk of skipping a tooth and killing the engine. Also, that oil leak is likely from one of the front end seals from either the crank or balance shaft. It would've made sense to change when the belts and water pump were off as oil will definitely still be leaking.

The Balance Shaft Belt Is much to solid. It has to be very loose ore it starts to make a Noise .

Mate i fixed my focus 1.0 ecoboost the fault all along was a broken bonnet switch it must shut ecu down to low power or something so i chopped both wires joined them car runs spot on 🤣

If you don't buckle your seat belt in a fiesta you also get low power! Did you road test it without it plugged in? 👍

Drove it 5 miles m8 But with the 02 sensor out the car went to mush after a 1 minute drive its all good now mate the only thing i need to try and solve somtimes i start it up and the dash says engine malfunction swrvice now naybe i need to oil filter change it and reset service the car driving me mad 😂

@@melsmotors Hi mate do you know if the focus 1.0 ecoboost has a bug software problem ? Somtimes i start it it says engine malfunction service now but when i switch ignition off abs back on the message is gone do u think i need to oil and filter change then reset oil life cheers 👍

@@melsmotors Hi mate my nephew has a fiesta 17 plate 57k on the clock he drove 5 miles with oil light on the top end of engine is tapping away do you think it can be saved ? I was thinking about dropping the oil pan cleaning the oil pump filter and look at the oil pump belt aswell cheers

Common wisdom in the community is that the timing belt should be changed every 4 years. The balance shaft belt should be surprisingly loose (edit: the whirring at the video is a sign that it's too tight). Oil leaks from balance shafts seals and crank seals - best to do that while in there doing the timing belt. Parts are available but they may take a bit to get there.

yeah the balance shaft belt wants about half a turn in it - i would say it was about right at the beginning. Needs to be surprisingly loose. Also, you need to use the crank washer on the back of the tensioner when compressing it
