I have a 92 4x4 Dlx 3.0L with 114k miles like a time capsule!! I recently took it to a local shop and had them completely go though it nose to tail. After it being in storage for 15 years (the length of time I had my 2007 FJC) driving it for the first time yesterday was fantastic. I forgot how cool this old truck was...
@darronfindlay69425 жыл бұрын
I've got a 92 with 391,000 miles on it. Just keep the oil changed and it will live forever. At around 300k you should change the timing chain. The chain guides are plastic and you won't know they've failed until the chain eats through the timing cover and into the water jacket. Put in metal backed guides and you shouldn't have to go in there again.

Just bought one yesterday for $2000. Looks just like yours, but has just under 250.000 miles. No leaks, clean and straight, powerful, and has a 5-speed. Has a/c but not operating...but all the parts are there. It was a steal for $2000 here in Hawaii, where these trucks are SUPER over-priced. Should have sold for around $3500-$4000.

I just bought mine 4 months back, bought it for $1,950. The body on mine is completely destroyed but it still runs good. Mine has 268,000 miles now, had less when I bought it. It’s the 2wd 22RE linked with a 5 speed like this one. The only difference is mine has the little brake light on the top that was required starting 1994.

I've got a '91 identical to this truck. Same color combo and everything. 170k miles on it. As for being ballsy - Toyota put this same engine in the Celica at one point.

beautiful lil truck. How much did you get for it in the end? Those little toyota pickups always command a high premium. Even the ones with 250k miles, gone paint and interior go for $2000+. So I Imagine that one went for double that easily. I can see why some potential buyers stay away from them, they are a "tad" overpriced. but that's just the market at work.

Mine is in as good of shape, white as this with 167,000 miles and does not burn any oil, runs great, getting a consistent 28mpg. I just bought a rear slider on ebay for it and replaced the stereo a long time ago. This truck is missing the rear black bumper

I got one with an extra cab, 22re, 5speed, 2wd like this one and it now has 210k and I Just had to replace the oem clutch, I thought it would last forever, lolololol. Total cost was 300 for parts and labor, I like to work on it myself but I was in a pinch. Parts on truck are reasonable, and if you ever find an unreasonable part, there's always salvage yards and the internet.

Okay I know I'm like 6-7 years late here, but damn that's a really nice truck. I had the exact same truck, 1993 Reg cab, deluxe interior option like this one(carpet, sound deadening, cloth seat), 5 speed. Mine had a passenger side mirror and factory a/c(didn't work), not sure if this one has factory a/c. Kind of a shame that it its white, has the "pool boy" truck look lol. Although you could get rid of that look with some period correct vinyl graphics down the side IMO. I had this truck, replaced it with a much nicer 2004 Tacoma, no option reg cab 2wd/5 speed. I will say that my old 1993 was quieter and felt quicker, don't know if it was the gearing or if the 22-RE had a lot more low end torque, the 2004 2RZ-FE, same 2.4 liter displacement, if you revved the nuts off it, it was faster, but man it was a gutless turd at lower rpms. You all are going to laugh, but if you gave me a choice of my 2004 Tacoma vs this 1993 model, both brand new with zero miles, 1993 Toyota all day long. Handled better, more low end torque, quieter, rode nicer, about the only thing the 2004 really had on it was better brakes with ABS and bigger/wider 15" tires.

My uncle used to have one of those regular cab Toyota's with the same exact bench seat. He is 6' which is rather tall and always had the seat all the way back. He had it since new in 1993 and drove until 190k+ miles before he sold it a few years ago, so he must have been pretty comfortable! but everyone has their own preferences. You need to get into one of those trucks and find out for yourself.

Having a manual transmission makes it that much more reliable and gives it better mpg than the automatic version . I learned how to drive a manual in a toyota pickup like this, easy once you get the hang of it
