1:30...How the HELL do you end up as the tournament leader with a 9-15 match play record??? : O

There are many factors. He could have built a massive lead in qualifying. Also, he could have lost a lot of close games in match play with very good scores. Granted, he missed out on some bonus pins but those players who might have bowled well against him could have bowled inconsistently in other matches.

Thats a good catch...just unreal. But guess what, he lost another match, so 9-16

On TV he sure did! But having said that, I've also found it interesting how Norm & BV were particularly tough on Walter over the years, Pete definitely had BV's number... and, very strangely, Pete and Norm had only like 3 or 4 TV matches ever.

Gotta admit it, Walter Ray beat Pete more times than you can shake a stick at! Here, he beats Pete by a narrow margin...but it's still a win, nonetheless.

@steven mckay With todays equipment and conditions, they're overpaid at that. Top tournaments in the 1960s paid up to $35-$65K, more than pro golfers. In fact, Harry Smith made more than the top three baseball players _COMBINED._ in one year alone. But that was when one ball hardly differed from another, wooden pins had a lower center of gravity and didn't like to fall, unlike todays gymnastic pins, and sheer skill and technique separated bowlers by individual merit. Blame the governing bodies for degrading a once great sport into a party game.

@steven mckay That fiasco corrupted the bowling culture, and demoralized the entire bowling world. After that, sanctioning scores and conditions, as well as sanctioning bodies themselves, lost all credibility and became worthless
