I loved 1994 940 Turbo so much. Supremely comfortable and very robust engineering. My Mom had a 1995 940, which was also an excellent car for many years. I previously had a 1985 240 and she a 1989 740 Turbo. Missing these old RWD tank Volvos so much!

It does have a unique rear axle design, where there is a subframe with two torque rods, one above the axle and one below. Pretty much all other solid rear axle cars have the torque rods mounted above the rear axle, like a Volvo 240 or a Crown vic.
@bobjohnson2053 жыл бұрын
@@GamezGames19 Yep, those darn torque rods. This summer I replaced most of the rear suspension bushings on my 740. The only 2 I couldn't get at were the 2 on the upper torque rod. Darn! lol

I have a 1996 Volvo 940 LPT estate with B230FK Engine. On 207,000 miles and runs very well. Used as my workhorse. Had the Volvo 5 years, cost me £250. Prior drove a 240GLT auto estate for 10 years, 8 as a daily/sole car. Bought for £350 and sold 10 years later in 2018 for £500. Added 76,000 miles, sold at 233,000 miles. Drove great. Like the older RWD Volvo's. James.

My favorite cars of all time. Twelve year old me really wanted my parents to buy one, but $24,000 just for the entry-level model was a lot of money back then. A Volvo wagon was always my mother's aspirational car, and we looked at one when she got a significant promotion at work. She had an immediate and visceral reaction as soon as she sat in it; she said it just felt wrong. So we left. Then a Saab 900 caught her eye. There was a lot of hemming and hawing about the Saab because my parents were loyal Datsun/Nissan customers - at the time Dad had a 1984 Nissan Stanza 2 door hatch and mom had a 1988 Nissan Stanza Wagon. They did end up trading the Stanza Wagon for the 900. Big mistake as the 900 was a lemon and they went right back to Nissan with a 1st gen Altima then a Pathfinder (Dad had moved to a string of Mazda 626s by then). Now they both drive Subarus (Impreza and Forester) because of course they do.

The last new Volvo with an inline six engine before this was the 164 (B30F engine, essentially the B20F four with two more cylinders), which was replaced by the 264 GL for 1975 in the UK and Europe (1976 in the US and Canada) that had the PRV (Peugeot-Renault-Volvo) B27F 2.7L V6 engine (enlarged to 2.8L, becoming the B28F, for 1980).
