Replacing the heater pipes on a 4th gen Nissan Maxima. Dash removal is not required, as long as you can work in a tight space.

Great video thank you. I just wanted to add that my heater core needed to be replaced on my 1998 Nissan Maxima. By taking out both heater core tubes and snap that plastic piece between them because I could not reach the screw. I was able to slide the heater core out and replace it with out pulling the dashboard.

oh man this looks rarely easy compared to the fucking heater core job on a Z32 man if you don't want to remove dash you gotta just cut the pipes then join them with hoses and clamps unlike the maxima that once you remove the little screws you can twist it like in this video then the tube comes out, shit on the Z its copper pipes with a couple of degree bend so no L shaped like the Maxima damn you Nissan I bet they do it on purpose to get cars in their bays, I saw a video on a Toyota's heater core replacement and they got their shit together you can detach the pipes at midway they are joined with couplers and grommets, anyways sir thanks for the video it always helps out the community.

+The Noid I'll be glad to never work on a Z32 ever again. Especially a plenum removal on a TT, what a major PITA.

boredmder you think the plenum pull on a Z32 is bad try changing the canister purge volume valve on a S14 f*cking Nissan decided to burry it right smack between upper intake manifold why why Nissan when all other cars have it out at view and accessible, so yes you must remove the whole upper plenum just to replace that stupid valve

another great video, when i was changing the value cover gasket from one of your other videos my plastic broke like yours, only about 1/2" left in firewall i was able to use a c-clamp and put the hose back on. will that cause the car to seem like there is a vaccum leak? pressure? different subject: forgot to put gasket back in erg tube will that cause something like a vaccum leak idle funny....also snapped small piece off pvc value...same question?
@boredmder

Brian C Yes, both could potentially cause a vacuum leak, which would lead to an unstable idle.

Miles Watkins I got it from nissanpartszone.com. Nissan's name is 'tube - water', it's in section 270 (Heater & Blower Unit). Part number is in the video.

It looks as if you can take both of those tubes off and remove the heater core without removing the dash but that's just wishful thinking lol!! Great vid though

+yungkev79 I think it would be tight, but quite possibly doable. I'm definitely going to try it this way if I ever need to do one, though, since all of this needs removed for the job anyway.

+boredmder I'm getting ready to do my 97 Maxima next week, and I'm going to try this first. I'll be sure to let you know if it works.

+Jose Santiago That would be great to know, would be a much easier route than the ~5.2 hour time for R&R dash.

lairdwd Just try pricing out the shift lock cover on a newer Armada. Retails at just under $100 for the cover itself...maybe 2 grams of plastic. Ridiculous, check it out - 96945-9GE0E

Good job, man ! I have changed heater core in my Lincoln Continental, had to take the dash out, what a job! I bet Ford Taurus is same way=(( Now, how tight did you put those 4 little screws??? You need to have that special tool/ screwdriver to do this, I am sure! youtheman =)

+Eero Laukkanen No real torque spec, just nice and tight. The setup I used definitely helped, I don't think I woud've been able to do it otherwise.
