CBS and ESPN did an awesome job with the TV coverage of NASCAR events in the 1990s. I enjoyed those broadcasts much more than today's, though it would have been nice if we had HD or 4K back then. But in every other regard, the quality of the broadcasts back then were better. The races started early (noon or 1:00 PM). Once coverage got underway, you'd have cars on the track within 10 minutes. And major events like the Daytona 500 felt special and were treated as such. It wasn't a damn circus like today with pre-race concerts, hours of boredom waiting for the actual race to start, etc.

That season the Morgan McClure team had exclusive rights to the system, that was the deal that Larry McClure worked out with the company Dr. Gas. It was for "R&D purposes". By the time the '96 season came, Morgan McClure had a full years worth of information on the system, even though pretty much all of the teams were using it.

The pre race interviews were good! Earnhardt answered Mike Joy perfectly when he asked Both Dale's, which was Dale 1 and Dale 2. DW was as good as ever and Gordon knew who to follow. Earnhardt, having all his controversial stuff, all the wins and attention, really detracts from DWs stellar career! It went from Petty and Pearson to DW for a few years, then Earnhardt to Gordon to Johnson. I'm not even sure who "the driver" is now. Maybe Larson or Busch.

Amazing. No bump drafting every single lap. These guys seemed to know what they were doing, unlike now.

This was my very 1st Daytona 500 and after I has watched Sterling and #4 Kodak dominate their 125 race on Thursday, I called home to my brothers in Mass . and told them it would be Sterling 1st and Earnhardt 2nd in the 500 just as I called it. Nobody was beating that Sterling Marlin #4 Kodak Chevrolet with the special X exhaust headers by Morgan McClure that week. Nobody!

If you look up Stapleton42 he did a video with Larry McClure, with Sterlings 95 500 Car, apparently, the car did not have 180dg headers, most of it was due to the X pipe and the boom tubes used in the car, as well as little things here and there, which is the reason why from the Late 90s to Mid 2000s, NASCAR’s sounded like that, due to the x Pipe design
