1997 F150 Blend Door Actuator

The Blend Door Actuator is not the failure here. It is the actual Blend Door that breaks on these many times. Come on, I'll show you how to fix it.
In this video I'll show you how to repair a blend door that broke on a Ford F-150. This is a kit sold in the aftermarket that works very well, and is a vast improvement over the original part, which is prone to failure. Thanks for watching.

Dremel tool is the ticket. The door kit 19.99 includes foil tape. Thanks for uploading.

I pull the dash out on passenger side . Did a heater core an door in 3 1/2 hours. Never did it before shop told me 7 hours.

Hello. I know this is an old video so this is a long shot. But I have an issue doing this repair. I got the old blend door out but the bottom part of the hinge is stuck in the box. The piece that the actuator connects too. This is the piece that was broken, but it will not come out... I've tried a pry bar, pliers, and getting my dremel in there but it is in there good. It turns freely by hand but seems like the box goes over a "lip" on the bottom part of the hinge. Has anyone run into this before? I'm over 50% of the way done but have been fighting this piece of plastic for over an hour... Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

great video. your the only one who shows the correct positioning of the blend door for ac and heat once installed. gonna go attempt to do this this morning. btw the part is only $19 on amazon

Not an easy job. But very do-able with patience. I used my heat knife to cut my opening. Fast and no mess.Ordered the Dorman part. Fixed over 2 days.

@@JoesAutoElectric I noticed that you cut the opening behind the glovebox smaller than what I saw in some other videos which is good if it works, and I wonder about how far to the left to make the cut on the air box without disturbing where the blend door goes when it opens all the way, some people seem to have a problem getting the old blend door out from the top where the pivot point goes into the hole, also can that metal piece that goes in the bottom of the blend door be 180 degrees off when installed? any advise on this is appreciated. going to do one real soon.

I used a razor blade on mine a lot easier and cleaner. Super easy to do!

Those dash boards come loose so fast that these kits are useless to me. Pull the dash loose, sit it on the passenger seat. You dont even have to remove the air box, just pop the top cover off, slide the old door out and the new door in and reverse procedure to put back together. 2.5 to 3 hours tops.

@@JoesAutoElectric it did work thats for certain. I have always been hesitant to cut stuff out especially when they come out so easy. Now if that was a buick rendezvous I would have cut all kind of holes, those dash boards take forever and break down into 500 seperate pieces. In the end though the truck was fixed and the customer was happy. Thanks for making videos, am a recent subscriber, keep them coming. Between you, Ivan, Kieth, and Eric O. I gain a lot of insight into issues that we dont see at the shop I work at as the owner just turns down most of it.
