1997 Mazda 323 Astina Review

My friend lets me do a video on his 1997 BA Series 3 Mazda Astina 323.
This one is equipped with KF-DE engine which produces 104kW power @6000 RPM and 183 Nm of torque @5000RPM.
The suspension setup on this cars are very good. Nice little car to drive. I am like the frame less windows.
Power is quite good and the engine revs quite good as well. This one is fitted with F-4EAT automatic transmission but the car is more enjoyable when driven with a 5 speed manual.
It was quite expensive for a small Japanese car back in the day. It comes with most electric controls like power windows,mirror, antenna and central locking. Only feature that is missing is the cruise control.
The material used inside are decent qualities and they were matched with cars exterior colour which was nice touch.
Overall, nice little sports car that looks and drives good.

In Colombia that car was sold as the Allegro hatchback, and was ahead of it's time, very sporty and good looking car

I bought my Astina SP V6 in 1997 manual with air conditioning for $42k drove it straight out of the show room, i think the price for the 4 cyclinder was $30k. They didn't sell to many of the V6 as the car was classified as a small to medium car. After five year of having the car as a daily driver it's condition was the same as it was when i drove it out of the show room. Now go and clean your car and polish it.

Where do you live please ? $42K it seems to me that it is a little expensive. In France, 1995 V6 with AirCo, manual transmission, it cost to me around $27K. 25 years later mine still looks new : instagram.com/p/B417BOQC_sm/?

I have it for 3+ years already. 1997, 1.8l, only mine is an automatic. Awesome car. Never gave up on me. 3 years hven't done anything on the suspension and everything is good. Just look out for the rust and have some body work done before it spreads.

The Intrigue is basically the same car but with a few different additional bits fitted, the main one being the electric sunroof and the blue cloth seat covers, there's also air con, alloy wheels, body kit and twin airbags. Comparing it to the standard vehicle as iv got a standard 323F lxi aswell. Both have got electric front windows and manual rear windows, the standard vehicle has a motorised radio aerial (Motor presently not working) and standard wheels. Both have also got remote central locking and immobilisers fitted.

Which lights are supposed to come on in this car on high-beam, the outside little round ones or the inside larger ones? Mine has the little outside lights come on in high-beam but they are a joke.

Sorry. I can't remember exactly. My friend sold this car 4-5 years ago. So can't go and check for you either. One option might be checking the owner manual where the globe specifications are. Hope this helps.

9,6 litres/100km which is about accurate. i own one but it's manual transmission and i get a bit better fuel economy

hey im planning to buy a mazda stina 323 hatchback with the pop up headlights, it is a 1991 model though with over 191k miles. it also cost 2300aud. Do you think its worth it? i just got my L's and it is my first car!!

oh i really like the toyota celica 1986-1993,its looks really nice! do you know much about this type of car?? i found other cars such as the nissan 180sx but it think it might be too powerful for a female driver...

Z Car Reviews what I meant say was that the screen is digital. Its still manual buttons. I'm not sure if its imported as I bought it recently. Do you how I can check this?

Oh! I see. Does it have a button called auto? if yes then it is an automatic climate control system. I have just quickly googled - all Lantis models are sold in Japan only. In the rest of the world it was sold as 323 Astina or other name plates. So, you should feel lucky that you got yourself a JDM Mazda Lantis. Enjoy!

Definitely efficient for a six cylinder car but obviously not as good as four cylinder one. But if you drive reasonably you should get a decent fuel economy.

@@ZCarReviews The most important thing to keep good fuel consumption: ignition system, air filter. Mine consumes 9.3L / 100km (with high-rev). Thanks for the review, it's funny to see a RHD and automatic transmission.
