Hi Everyone, welcome to the Ranger Shop!
In this episode I Rebuild the Front End of my 2002 Ford Ranger. See below for a time line if you want to skip to what your working on.
This is not a step by step guide rather it provides a few tips and tricks that i personally find work well. you will need some mechanical knowlage to complete these tasks. If you feel uncomfortable please dont hesitate to take it to a mechanic, you could hurt yourself or damage your truck if you do it wrong! Ok now lets get started......
2deg Camber Shim 1:30/12:01
Lower Ball Joint 3:29
Upper Ball Joint 10:05
Sway Bar End Link 20:14
Axle Seal 11:40
Outter Tie Rod End 21:55
Brakes 26:46

Nice videos and great channel! I have a 2002 4X4 and I was wondering if your CV axles wear out fast with the torsion key lift? I have lift keys on mine and my CV axle boots have already torn for a 2nd time. Would having those camber shims help with that? Let me know what you think! Thanks.

Yes there is a lot more pressure put on the CV. That’s why I ended up installing the locking hubs so they wouldn’t be spinning all the time. Since I did that no more problems. The camber shims will just help the alignment… unfortunately the cv will still wear. I recommend installing the 99 locking hubs.

@@RangerShop1 installing locking hubs will work with the automatic transmission and electric 4x4 switch right?

Hi Ranger shop,i own a 1998 ford ranger 3.0l 4wd.my cv axle on the front left keeps popping out on the trail causing my manual 4 wheel hubs to drop off,there is a spiral locking clip that i need to hold the axle in place can you help me or tell me where i can get one to buy?

I'm sorry I'm not really sure if there is a clip. see if you can find an exploded parts view.

@@RangerShop1There is a circlip and a snap ring on the vehicles that came with the pulse vacuum hubs. Ford dealer or salvage yard is most likely option.

Aftermarket parts will last 10k miles before they fail....... OEM/FORD originals will last 250,000 miles go to the dealership and get quality parts

Don’t have to sell me…. worked for Ford for 15 years That’s why my cassettes and guides in my 4.0L video is all ford… these parts…. where you can change them in a couple hours. I have no problem putting in moog aftermarket but whatever turns your crank. 🤙

I too, have never had a problem with moog parts, been in my 1990 F150, 97 Explorer, 2001 Explorer, and my 2002 Ranger. Strong and running

Ford stopped manufacturing some suspension parts for the 2011 era rangers :(
