Amen! I miss Buddy,Ned, and Benny. Honorable mention to Bob. I was thinking today that people just don't know the sponsors and the drivers are weak for the most part. Look who is dominating, (Harvick). He is the last of the great era and knows how to drive. Just my opinion.

I wish CBS would come back to broadcast NASCAR races. The passion and perfection of a broadcast was unprecedented and blows today's broadcasts out of the water.
@chrisguardiano6143
@chrisguardiano6143 3 жыл бұрын
If CBS got the rights today most likely what would happen is that depending on which half of the season they got the rights to ,most of the races would end up on CBS Sports Network which unlike FS1 or NBCSN isn't a basic cable network, meaning very few people would be able to see them unless CBS Sports Network became a basic cable network or CBS decided to go for the races currently done by Fox and gave a few more PGA Tour events in the spring to NBC or Golf Channel to make room for NASCAR. To make things worse, events like qualifying, practice, the Xfinity series and the Trucks would most likely be put on All Access, CBS's subscription streaming service which again limits access for people that don't have the service. In terms of the quality of the broadcast, I agree with you that CBS would bring passion to every broadcast and hire people that are knowledgeable and care about the sport.

Most likely, nobody involved with CBS' coverage in 1999 would be part of a new NASCAR on CBS. They would need a producer and play-by-play men who are entertaining, informative, passionate, and relevant.

I loved how, since it was a primetime broadcast, they used CBS's closing credits template at the time. The Blue Sky promo was a bit jarring for following an auto race, but the Letterman promo was spot-on.

Best season for him at the restrictor plate races, beating his 1990 performance. In 1990 he painstakingly lost the Daytona 500 after leading 155 laps with that right front tire going flat yet still finished fifth. Afterwards we all know he won the remaining three: Winston 500 at Talladega, Pepsi 400 at Daytona, then completed the sweep at Talladega a few weeks later with his win in the DieHard 500.

A fun race. Rusty just couldn’t hang on the restrictor plate tracks. He led a ton of laps, just to get shuffled at the end. Just like the 1999 Daytona 500. Such a clean race as well.
@mattkowal90

When they moved the Pepsi 400 to nighttime, Earnhardt finished no worse than 10th and had a shot at winning all 3 that he was in. He finished 10th in '98 after leading 41 laps but hit a tire like a hockey puck down pit road that messed up the valence and handling, yet shot up through the field after having his front end replaced. He finished 2nd in this race, and if Jarrett had passed the pace car again Earnhardt would have won his third Pepsi 400 and first under the lights, and then in 2000 he finished 8th.

Damn Dale Jarrett ruined the party though winning LUCKILY due to caution lol.. I think Dale woulda got him if he had the chance. I still remember watching this last lap in tears begging my Aunt (she worked for NASCAR) too do something to let them finish the race under green lol. Gosh life was so much easier and happier back than… Dads dead now, Aunt lost her husband (my Uncle) last month, my grandma and I don’t even speak.. god things change.. I had a Chance to Win 1 Million Dollars at This Race as part of a Discount Auto Parts Promotion before they became Advance Auto Parts, where 6 months before the July 4th Race on your Entry you had to Pick in Order the First 5 Racers, And the Driver I picked to Win the Race Mark martin wrecked his car with less then a minute left in practice and broke his arm and started a back up car from the back of the pack I had 2 of the other 5 racers but No Dale Jarrett who won because Jimmy Spencers crash or Jarrett would have run out of gas giving Dale Sr the Win. I am not complaining, I got a weekend for 2 at Orlando Hotel, Luxury Bus to Infield at Daytone and Seats on the End of Pit Roads in Grandstands and $1,000 spending Money. I Took my brother who all my life had always been there for me and deserved it, There were 10 of us that had a chance to Win that Million and No One Did, But we All Enjoyed our Time
