This was the last model year for the W140 CL, before it was replaced with the oval headlamp W215 CL.

It's not just the door colour either, the driver's seat is in pretty bad shape, the rear boot/trunk won't close properly.... The guy selling seems to be playing everything down and in a rush to get it sold.. Like Craig David said, I think I'd be walking away from this one.. 😒

I really wish you had this car NOW! I would buy it in a second and drive it back to California! I'm looking at a 1995 S500 coupe, but it has a salvage title and 200k miles, but great condition and maintained....think I can get it from owner for about 4k..... anyone think this is a good deal? I'd prefer one without the salvage title and such high miles, but it is a beauty

In my country the W140 was called ''The Castle'' lol. The prices for refurbishing the leather seats are a lot higher than the low prices you tell in the video (in the Netherlands at least).

People charge wayyyy to much for upholstery work.I called a shop and asked how much to fix the fabric on my door panel and he wanted like 200$ for a very small job with not much effort involved.I was like HELL NO.I went to the fabric store myself and did the door panel myself for like 17$ and some labor.I have never done any interior work and it looked nice.This was just for a ford escape.Its a big rip off what these guys charge.

MarkVL In arab countries, they call it "The Ghost". Pretty much every mercedes has a nickname. The W220 is called "The Submarine", for example.

is it just me or is it weird seeing a late model car like a 1999 S500 Mercedes having a cassette deck? You'd think that with it being a premium car, it wouldn't have a cassette deck, it would be AM/FM/CD only

This was back in the day when they still had the CD changers in the trunk To my knowledge they still had cassette decks well into the mid 2000's
