I've been driving 2000 Celica 1.8 for 8 years now, a super reliable affordable and in general good car. For everyone who is looking to buy a good car on a budged look no further, this car is a 8/10 on ever level. Its a top choice for its price, looks good and drives amazing, a classical sports car feeling as well.

This is a standard feature on most coupes. even my uncle's 2005 Civic LX had it. What you didn't mention tho is that this isn't the case on the driver side since it is actually dangerous for that to potentially happen to a driver.

I bought one some month ago for my son the problem is to find one with an acceptable mileage it’s really difficult to find one with less than 100,000 miles on it. Regarding spare parts it depends on the engine type your one is having there is the 1ZZFE type of engine with 143 Hp and the other is the 2ZZFE with 190 Hp For the 1ZZFE all spare parts are available since this engine was used in two or three other models as well. The 2ZZFE is more difficult to find spare parts. I had big problems to find a part for the rear axle / rear suspension frame at the end I found one a a dealer in the UK that delivered it to mainland Europe. The Celica is a very reliable with two major problems one is rust and the other is burning oil. For the rust you have to look carefully when buying one mine had this rusty suspension part in the rear and you couldn’t see it with just a short look best is if you can get an expert to have a look before you buy it. Regarding the oil consumption there are a lot of articles in the internet why these engines start burning oil basically it has two reasons first is a design error in the pistons and second is the small amount of oil in this engines. When you are in a hot climate and drive very fast the oil is getting quite hot and this leads to the build of carbon at the last piston ring clogging the small holes used for draining the oil to the inside of the piston. After some time the carbon builds up and the ring is sticking in one position this leads the wear on the cylinder walls which than results in burning oil because the piston ring doesn’t remove it anymore when it is pushed downwards. The repair is very expensive so best is to find one that doesn’t burn oil unfortunately no owner will tell you but you can look at the cam shaft and if you see carbon built up there don’t buy it. If you have one in order to avoid this problem for the future always fill oil to the maximum and change it early maximum 5000 miles with a full synthetic oil than change it. Despite these issues the Celica is a wonderful car that still looks great even 22 years after its appearance. ( I had one 2000 to 2004 which I had to sell when my son was borne and now my son is having his own)

@@habi0187 wow, thanks alot for the reply, this helped out alot. I decided to ge for a more recent car, probably the alfa romeo brera or the 147... They seem more reliable on the long run. A shame though, because the Celica is definitely a wonderful car.

@@snoopy8588 if I may suggest don't buy a Brera it was constructed while FIAT was cooperating with GM it's too heavy to be a sports car it handles more like a sedan. Are you from Italy? Because not may people outside of Italy even consider Alfa Romeo anymore.

@@habi0187 Hi, i'm from belgium, not from Italy. Do you have any other suggestions then? My budget is around 5000 euros. I am looking for a more sporty car, but i'm sick of constantly seeing the basic cars like ford fiesta etc. The car can be 3 doors, but i want 4 seets.

@@snoopy8588 hi I am German so you could think about an Audi TT but it's difficult for your price range. A Hyundai Coupe should be available in this range even with the V6 engine. VW Scirocco is also a possibility. Or a Honda Civic or CRX (a bit older but Honda engines are famous for their reliability). Renault Megane Coupe might also be a possibility (not so reliable).

Is the car small inside, idk how tall are you, but have you somethinmes hit your head on the roof of the car? And is it reliable for everyday usage?

My height is 175 cm. For everyday driving, I think it would be better to take something more comfortable and bigger

I'm 185cm and have never had a problem with the size. Two door means more leg room. Perhaps it's something you get used to but I've found mine a great daily.
