7 жыл бұрынThis video is about the new Toyota TS050 Hybrid LMP1 car I recorded during the 2017 WEC (World Endurance Championship) Prologue at Monza Circuit. The car is moved by a 2.4-litre twin-turbo V6 engine combined with a 8MJ hybrid system. Watch it in action during the first day of tests!

for those who are saying the cars sound low, i reccomend you visit one of these races and you will feel your ear drums bursting :) and BTW these cars are not running to their full capabilities because they dont want rivals to benchmark their top speeds.. they go all out on private sessions somewhere secluded

MopHead780 many Group-C cars were turbo too, not too different in noise to today's cars actually (seen both during the same event). The 787B was another world ofc

they do sound bad. but,there are many reasons for that. one major being,the implementation of 3 way catalytic converters. the other one being the immense downsizing that has begun on motorsport. small engine + air restriction = less sound. simple as that.

@@jkk20 It’s running a 2.4 Litre. Same displacement as Ferrari’s V10 from the Schumacher days. It certainly doesn’t sound as good as that, but it is far from a ‘bad’ sound.

Where is all this hate for the WEC coming from? Sure, Audi left, but that doesn't mean that the racing won't still be great. Remember when it was just Audi and Peugeot competing for the overall win at Le Mans. Some of those races were classics. Who's to say Porsche Vs Toyota can't be just as exciting? And lastly, these P1 cars might be a tiny bit slower than last year, but they're still crazy fast (comparable to GP2), which is more than enough for me.

Because the current fans have been spoiled by the fact that there's been three semi-competitive marques in LMP1 as of late, even though most of the time in the past two years, it's really only been two per race. I agree with the Audi vs Peugeot statement. Those races were for the books, and those weren't even with cars that were close on pace (bar 2011).

As always, another fantastic video. The way that you capture the (frankly absurd) performance of the TS050 is remarkable. More displacement=deeper sound? So the 3.0 liter V10s had a deeper sound than these two? It's stroke length and rpms that determine the main sound, not the displacement. That's why muscle cars have a really deep growl to them - they got long ass strokes.

Two things: 1. I wish this team all the very best for this year's LM24, especially after what happened to them last year. 2. Lots of people complain about the F1 V6 turbos, but I think that they actually sound pretty good. Much better than this in comparison.

1. Agreed with you 2. To be honest I do like both of them because they have two different tones. The F1s sound is quite unique and these LMP1s remind me of some old Group C cars

Now that you mention it (and after I watched another one of your videos to compare!), I think you're right. It doesn't sound bad at all, but I still prefer F1 V6s though. That's just a personal thing.

Thats due to wec fuel regulations, they had to leave the NA V8 and change to a turbo setup

The TS040 in 2015 was much slower than the competition. One reason for that was the V8 engine.

That's not really true, what happened is that they changed fuel regulations and the NA got the worst part. Due to the lower levels of fuel they had to reduce a lot the power and they ended up changing the engine to a turbo V6

Desmo 1198s; what good old days? The beginning of the new wec only had the glorious Toyota V8 in two cars, the TS030 and the Rebellion. The other 3 lmp1's were an oil burning Audi and the hpd Strakka.

I read that after the second session on Saturday that fastest in the speed traps was the No.2 Porsche at 313 km/h (194 mph).

The dpi's could've easily topped over 200 mph too at Daytona if it wasn't for certain restrictions. I'm not sure if the p1 cars are using their le mans areo package at monza (I think they're) but I'm sure at le mans where top speed means so much the difference will be much larger between the p2 cars. Because right now at monza after that second session the fastest of the p2's was clocked at 309.5 km/h (192 mph). Update: The quickest of the p1 cars in the speed traps was clocked at 319.5 km/h (198 mph) in Saturday night’s session. But still only 5 km/h quicker than the fastest LMP2 car.

I'd be surprised if they are currently using their le mans aero package here, but then again you never know. I read that P1 cars are only passing P2's under breaking and acceleration. Hopefully the P1's can get more top end at le mans. Its only testing.

M Everett Both factory P1s were using the low-downforce kit. It was basically expected that in a straight line, the new LMP2 would top out as fast as, if not faster than LMP1s The thing I'm unsure about is if LMP2s are using the low-DF package currently. I know none of the Oreca runners used it for the ELMS test, and I'd expect to stay true for the WEC runners.

Nope, the 5GR-FE is a 2.5L which is used only in the 2005 Toyota Reiz and 2005 Toyota Crown (both for Chinese market).

Near 1000hp (around 500hp from the V6 engine and other 500 from the hybrid system)

Less aero than last season and that makes me sad...These cars were faster or just as fast as F1 around Monza. Thanks to the aero that keeps them glued to the ground.

They where like 4-5 seconds slower than F1 when they cut the chicane. So the LMP1 cars haven't been as fast as F1 around Monza.

LazyRock here's the comparison at Silverstone 2016 f1 pole-1.29.287 . 2015 lmp1 fastest average lap time /pole-1.39.721 2016 lmp1 qualy was damp/wet

It's getting retired soon, I believe. The 8 Hours of Bahrain will be the final race it ever does, I think it can still decide the driver's championship. The new LMH regs mean we'll see stuff closer to fitting the hypercar brief.

Devono purtroppo accendere i LED posteriori in caso di pista bagnata perchè a causa degli spruzzi/flussi d'acqua al posteriore le macchine che seguono devono riuscire a vedere la macchina di fronte a loro
