1A Auto: Repair Tips & Secrets Only Mechanics Know

4 жыл бұрын

Buckle up, it's a big one! Andy pulls an automatic transmission, and then tears it down to give you an inside look at all the pieces! He shows you how the gears and clutches work together to move your vehicle down the road. He shows how the whole system is directed by the computer, and actuated by automatic transmission fluid, which is why it's so important to check fluid levels and replace dirty fluid! He even puts it back together when he's done!

I'm definitely impressed with the mechanic here. Whoever designed this, and all his/her accomplices, should be locked away and never allowed to design anything again. Unreplaceable filter and common failure of two tiny, cheap diaphragms burried deep inside an inaccessible location is a crime against humanity.

I was like you once as a tech.Complained that engineers did this and that and blah blah blah. I went back to school and now work for a 2nd tier Auto supplier. Turns out engineers and designers have no decision making powers. It's all based on cost and the products YOU buy as a consumer. I know it's a hard pill to swallow, but if you think you can do better, go ahead and get your Mech eng degree and show em how it's done champ. X)

Also, why was the vehicle brought in for service/symptoms? Can you share approximate cost to the customer for this? Amazing that you'd have to do all that to replace the filter, sheesh. Funny....I did a rebuild on my 1.6 Liter fwd 2013 Ford Escape. There was another video of a Ford technician rebuilding it. All I did was watched the video a million times, but I successfully rebuilt the transmission without knowing jack about the parts I replaced. Absolutely no clue about how all these parts go hand and hand. It would be nice to actually understand how they work together. Rebuilding with the help of a professional is one thing, understanding how all these parts actually work is another.
