OMG - this is a life saver! I never would have thought to use a long-tail cast on from knitting for a crochet piece. Perfect!

I often use my crochet hook for casting on and binding off my knitting. But it never occurred to me to do a knitting cast on for Tunisian crochet. Such a great tip! Thank you!

Nicely demonstrated! I’ve been looking for a cast on to do Tunisian crochet socks. You were not confusing and I can see exactly what your hands are doing and I got it! Thank you!

Always wondered if I was the only one preferring to cast on the stitches like in knitting as opposed to a chain (which I have problems to keep the loops even) 😅

LOVE IT! I’m always trying to implement advanced knitting techniques in my Tunisian work. I use the ‘Backwards Chinese Waitress’ cast on. It’s nice and stretchy, but has a double braided edge to match the other edges. Which colorway of Muse are you using in this tutorial? It looks like Impulse, but there’s a few with only a subtle difference. It’s GORGEOUS 😍

I am confused about the extra steps in this method. I use a different method of a long tail cast on. I start the same way but instead of going under and around and grabbing the far side yarn I just go up through and then swing over to the other yarn. so the under and around is skipped and then the back through the first loop again and then releasing it is basically (as far as I can understand) just undoing the first step. I have tried both my standard way and this way and unless I am doing something wrong, unless I am missing something I get the same results on my hook no matter which way I do it. so if there is something I am missing please explain.

Hi! Very interesting. I tried doing the row, but by the second stitch I forgot the hook placement. I had to review your video. I eventually got it, but will I remember the format if it's something I normally haven't used? I do thank you for sharing it. I appreciate everything you share. Thank you!👍🤗

Tell me someothing, please, Woofie? I started a Tunisian crochet project a couple days ago, and because I wanted a stretchy foundation row and didn’t know how to do one in TC (my quick google search didn’t turn up anything that seemed right), I made myself a stretchy single-crochet foundation row. It worked, and it looks nice. Then I accidentally ran face-first into your video while looking for something else, thought I’d prolly made an error in using the SC foundation stitch, and thought this looks so complicated that my head exploded. (I’m sure that if I watch intently that I’ll get it, as you seem to have gone out of your way to make it easy to follow, but it *still* looks as if it’s a lot to get the hang of.) Would this *really* look a lot better than my SC foundation row? Does it make enough of a difference that I should knuckle down, watch this vid, learn to do a proper TC foundation row, and rip out the work I’ve done thus far? It woulda helped me to see the two side by side, but of course you couldn’t plan for some dope out here wanting you to compare your method to hers. ☺️ If you feel it’d make a significant difference, I’ll do that (tear out my work and do it the right way). I’d be really grateful for your advice! (And please don’t take my whining as criticism; while it absolutely IS criticism, it’s of ME and NOT you! *I’m* the buffoon who didn’t find your vid before starting my project.) Thanks very much, and thanks also for the very patient and thorough vid. (It helps a great deal that your voice is extremely soothing, and while I didn’t watch the whole thing yet, in what I’ve seen so far, you haven’t used the fatally-annoying noise words “Go ahead and …” every other danged sentence the way altogether too many people do, so thanks for that! 💋)

I think you could - for a double crochet lace pattern it would be perfect.

I have trouble ( can't learn ) chainless regular crochet stitch or another twisting regular chain method. Could I use this for a chainless single regular foundation row. I have been trying for a long time so it isn't something I just tried once and gave up. I am desperate to use a chain vs ribbed start to bottom up hats so I have kept trying ... I would love to find something that works for my poor brain.
