I gave a relatively old and very experienced with the knife woman, all the famous Mora knives models, to try them out (she is out in the wilderness a lot, to gather mushrooms, mostly wild edible plants etc). After that, I asked her to keep one knife, obviusly the knife she liked to use more. It was the Mora Clipper with the Bahco logo on it, that comes with the Bahco Laplander. PS The knives I gave to her for testing, included all the Companion versions. the Bushcraft Black, the Kansbol, Robust etc etc, she kept the cheapest. She mentioned 3 reasons, the simple and more versatile handle and overall simplisity was the 1st, the thin and narrow blade and the overall light weight. That made me understand better, a comment I see sometimes from random people, who say, that when it comes to Moras, the cheaper the better. As also another comment, where people say, that the more simple a knife is, the better. Just my 2c. Cheers

Thanks for the rundown of the kit. I’m thinking of putting something together just in case. Even if you don’t leave home it’s nice to know you’ve got something ready for that sudden emergency. Good stuff.

I'm currently in the process of putting together two BOB's. The only difference in the 2nd one is that it will be tailored to be more female specific for the missus. Slightly lighter with a few items that a woman will need. Other than that they are exactly the same. These aint suitable for bikepacking but in the event of a SHTF situation they will contain pretty much everything we need to remain comfortable.

Turn that bike into an ebike with a hub wheel motor, even with a snapped chain it will get you home and some ebike kits even allow you to charge your phone off them. They are pretty straightforward to put together, super stealthy and with the added power can allow you to pull a small trailer behind you carrying more gear and maybe a spare battery just incase

However you can modify things into a good cooking kit is always definitely an upgrade. I like that Titanium Cup with Lid. Secrets of like some of that M.I. 9 Unknown Division stuff, like I can tell that you also have studied under the Master Greenback, who expressed the importance of the British Portable Stove and Cooking kit. My Mining Partner thought you said, Your Witchcraft Knives, not Bushcraft I replied, You know those Brits across the Pond, alternative religions they invented that, The Guy knows his stuff, man, he carries a British Witchcraft Survival Knife, so if your ever in the U.K., especially if you happen to be near Stonehenge, you may want one of those Witchcraft Survival Knives with you. Mr. Randal and I really like your video, you remind us of Tom a Guy from the U.K. He wondered how two Guys from the Southwest be Knights?. That is an interesting Story of itself. My Partner and I are Prospectors!. I am a Knight by Rank and Title, Military Awards Pin, comes from you guys. We are Coffee Drinker, Espresso, and Phillipino Jungle Island Coffees.

G'day mate :) I reckon you've got a pretty comprehensive & well thought out kit there. I do agree with you about your cooking gear. (You could pare it down if you wanted really wanted to) Perhaps you might like to think about a framed pack with a better kind of back support. I imagine that even with the weight you're carrying, it may become uncomfortable if you have to "bug out" if you're doing some distance & wearing it for an extended length of time. Try not to fall out of any trees! Lol. Keep up the good work. Cheers

@@hippyswift Cool. I've watched all of your videos. Your "a touring bicycle is born" series is the best guidance that I have ever seen. It's taking me over two years now to put something together that I am slowly getting happy with. I also got the Snugpak stuff thanks to your excellent reviews. Funnily enough, I used to love metal detecting and nearly got a detector before I ran into hard times. And I am also a very keen course angler, with an interest in foraging, homemade wine and preserves, and the countryside - so it's been very enjoyable watching your channel. It's like all the things that I most enjoy rolled up into one. I also like castles too. I do hope that you remain in good health and in high spirits, hopefully meeting up some time.

@@hippyswift Still I don't see how you value it at £1k. Sleeping bag £100, mat £50, tarp £50, bivvy bag £70 (I do like that it's far smaller than my British Army goretex bivvy bag but mine is bombproof and I got it brand new for just £35) - that's £270. The rucksack is cheap and no way it would cost more than £50. Bushcraft tools - Bahco Laplander £25, Mora Companion £15, Mora Eldris £20 so £60 altogether. So is your cooking gear, torches, powerbank and first aid kit worth £620???

Hi, I've not been involved with bikes for a good few years now, however, if I recall correctly by law you need to have mudguards fitted to bikes, is that not the case these days or is your bike only used off road?
@hippyswift
@hippyswift 2 жыл бұрын
No mudguards needed chap, only motor vehicles 👍 I used to use them on all my bikes, but it's easier to clean the bike without them on so left them off ever since.

Don't forget a trusty sidearm. I would suggest a baby glock with two or three spare thirty three round magazines for grazing and suppressive fire. Sure a rifle is better but they are just too big and heavy and might draw unwanted attention.

@@colonelangus8247 No it's illegal to even own a licenced one in a gun club safe in mainland Britain i.e. England, Wales & Scotland. If you do have a licence and fulfil the requirements by having a safe anchored to the floor etc. you still can only own a pistol if it has a massive stock welded to it! Yet oddly a semi-auto Uzi with a stock is ok to own. Only in Northern Ireland may you own a pistol and even carry it for self defence.
