I bought a 2014 Ridgeline after I wrecked my 2014 Nissan Frontier. I loved my Frontier, but after test-driving a Ridgeline, I was sold. It is so roomy and drives like a dream. I have been able to do everything I need a truck for, and it rides so much nicer. Love my Ridgeline!

Have a 2013 RTL with over 120000, still going strong, do keep up with maintenance, like tires, battery, etc., haven't touch my timing belt and the engine still runs like a champ, plan to keep it for ever.

I just bought one of these after 20+ years of full size trucks and jeeps and so far I love it! The interior is surprisingly spacious plus the bed trunk is nice.

how the gas milage? And I'm currently looking into buying a 2007 RTL Ridgeline with 150K miles. It has a little rust, but the owner said he replaced the (spark plugs& coils, new starter, new alternator, replaced intake & valve cover gasket, and internal valve adjustment. Thoughts?

Just curious what's the reason for you to upgrade. I am also interested in buying a ridgeline.. what would be the reason to get new over the older model

@@SuriyaS-gy9iqwhat I’ve found is that people see the “newer and shinier” and get sucked into the “new new”……then they regret getting rid of the simple, over designed 1st gen

Same here. I had an O6 RTL and now have a 21 RTLE. I think the gen 1 looks better now than when I had one.

I have a 2008 RTL that I purchased new. Nothing has required a repair, only to dealer for air bag replacement for a recall. I just purchased an Aisin timing belt, water pump, tensioner kit to do the second timing belt replacement. Love it, do not care what others call it, and yes it is not a macho status symbol, but it is all I need. At 83 I drive it less but enjoy driving it, look forward to each opportunity to do so. It is garage kept and I have gone overboard with maintenance, frequently change oil with synthetic, have changed the trans, dif, transfer, coolant, brake fluid etc. Still looks and drives like new. My plans are to leave it up to my family what to do with it when I am no longer here or have to give up driving. It is not a replacement for a truly needed work truck. My towing need is a boat and trailer that is less than the rated tow rating. Surprisingly the headliner is sagging in places even with it having been kept most of the time in a garage.

Just now bought(yesterday) my first ridgeline. 06 RTL. What’s amusing is that I saw how clean it was so I didn’t worry about maintenance. I get home and actually start looking at all the records in the glovebox and on carfax sheesh! Brand new Timing belt and water pump + a motor mount not even 1k miles before I got it! 197k miles and zero rust 🙌 Thanks for being so generous with your time and making this video!

Good video. I owned one when I lived in Anchorage because it fit in the garage out of the snow and ice. I loved the truck and had no problems. After owning the full-size trucks I think I’m going to buy a ‘14 SE.

I was gonna be sad I thought for a minute The hidden chamber in the center console is the coolest thing I’d done ever see in a car/truck I’ve had mine for 2 weeks 2013 silver sport With 14,000 miles (No I didn’t forget a zero) It actually has 14,000 miles & was garage kept in north Florida

289,000 miles on my 06. Runs like the day I bought it. Paint on the hood and roof is junk but mechanically it is bullet proof

I've owned a 2006 since new and it has 245,000 miles. Radiator, alternator and front struts. Im 73 and it will outlast me. It was the right size for me when I decided I needed a truck. The in bed trunk sold me. I do must of maintenance after warranty expired. I've had Hondas and Acuras for 30+ years because of their dependability.

This is such a good, informative video. You sound like a very practical person and I appreciate that. My favorite part was you mentioned selling the wrangler for a 21 Ridgeline and handing down the Gen1 to your kid. My daughter will be driving in 6 years lol I have already asked her about getting my 2021 Ridgeline when she’s ready to drive :). This is all the truck I need in NC to get me to the trailheads as a mountain biker. This video made me happy haha. Happy holidays!!

I've heard there are trans and possibly engine issues with the 2nd generation ridgelines but I didn't dive into it. I have a G1 and no interest in the new version.

Great video, loved your east coast commentary. I am originally from western NY and I don't encounter many midwesterners who speak as openly and up front as you. I have a 2006 RT with 94000 miles, same color as yours. I bought the RT figuring as you mentioned they all have the same engine, same transmission, drivetrain, etc., so what am I getting with these trim level upgrades particularly since I hate sun roofs. Because of its age at the time I did the timing belt water pump thing at 84000 miles. The original components looked brand new! I don't tow and do the drain and fill on the tranny every 15000 miles after doing it the first time at 30000 miles. Same with the VTM and the transfer case oil. Still have the original spark plugs and have not done a valve adjustment. Air conditioning still runs cold although have had to top off the refrigerant a couple of times. Still original shocks, axle boots but have had both sway bars replaced. I only put about 2500 miles a year on it now and have thought about getting a new one but I'm wary of the vcm cylinder deactivation feature which was a problem on my 2010 honda accord which I have since bypassed. Enjoyed your video hope all is well.

I'm on my 2nd 1st generation ridgeline. Love it. Doesn't the avalanche have a pass thru feature from the bed to the interior? One of my family members had the Cadillac version and still regrets selling it.

@@Hrizzzz yes the back panel folds down on the avalanche. I had 32 sheets of plywood in there one day. The guy helping load at HD said he couldn’t believe it held that many. He said he always thought it was a ‘girls truck’ . 🤣 I could tell the tranny was going getting close to 100k and the gas was killing me. It’s the only vehicle I ever owned that I was in love with. Planning on buying the Ridgeline this coming fall after the new models come out. Hoping to catch a 22-24 at a little better price.

What’s your check engine light on for? I just bought an 06 with 185k miles and I’m not entirely thrilled with it so far. I’ve had to do the timing belt, sway bar links and strut assemblies. I did a tune up, cleaned the TB, and replaced a crusty PCV valve. Now I’ve got a CEL for an intake leak, but I think it’s because I don’t have the right tools to reset the TB positioning sensor. I tried the manual relearn procedure, but that hasn’t worked. I just spent $190 on a foxwell nt510 that has the TBP sensor reset function so hopefully that solves it. Didn’t have the CEL before the tune up, but I’ve tested all the connections for leaks to no avail. Also had to replaced the blend door vent actuator, all of this in less than a month of ownership. I know it’s “old” by most peoples standards, but I’ve driven old Toyota pickups exclusively for the last decade and haven’t had as much grief as I have with this ridgeline. I’m hoping I can permanently clear the CEL and this will keep going for at least a few more years without anymore money needing to be dumped into it.

I have a 2006 RTL bought new. 125,000 mi. You want really to see a difference, flush out your power steering fluid with new Honda OEM fluid. It makes the steering much more direct that it loses over time. The power steering O-rings also will start to go and make sure you change out both the rear differential and the front transaxle.🤔😛😇

Could you explain the rough idle you had on this for me. Was it only rough when the engine was cold ? Was it rough all the time ?. Would it struggle to stay running ? I bought my ridgeline used and want to be on the look out for signs of valve adjustment.

sounded like a miss when cold and i would idle like crap. would clear up when warm and idle perfect. I had tight exhaust valves. when i had a bad idle that would not clear ever it was a bad egr valve
