The 6607 is the ex-FEC Tavern Lounge Observation "Bay Biscayne" built by Budd in 1939 for the original Champion train set run between Miami and New York in conjunction with the ACL. 6607 is the number given "Bay Biscayne" after it was acquired by SAL in '65.

I'm very excited about Great Northern 1355's restoration, it is unique in that it's the first GN steam locomotive that I know will be restored in the U.S, and that it has a belpaire firebox. Plus, I heard from either a volunteer or a visitor at the museum that 1355 may have some exciting operating opportunities thanks to the organization's relationship with BNSF and Canadian National, and that the museum will start more projects pertaining to the success of 1355's operation. In other news, those events at the Danbury Railroad Museum and the Railroad Museum of New England look very cool, and they both have some great looking diesels, especially FL9 no. 2019!

I get so happy when steam locomotives are restored to operational condition.

Since Great Northern 1355 will be the first excursion star steam locomotive of the Great Northern Railroad. I hope one day to see this steam locomotive running when restoration work is complete.

The tank engine was literally less than 10 minutes from where I live and I had no clue until the day of its move that it was leaving I plan to see it when it’s restored to operational condition

Lots of exciting railroading announcements this week across the USA shown here! It's really cool that the New York New Haven & Hartford "Roger Williams" Budd car set will be on display in Canaan, CT later this month. I remember when that set was at the Danbury Railway Museum many years ago and it's a unique and interesting variant of the Budd cars. Speaking of Danbury, very nice that the railway museum there has cosmetically restored their New York Central S1 electric locomotive by giving it a new paint job. By the way, Canaan is pronounced "Cay-nan." I also think it's interesting news that a Great Northern (of North America) steam locomotive is being restored to operational condition, which is the sole surviving Pacific from that railway. It's one of the nicest-looking classes of steam locomotives the Great Northern had in my opinion, but I do request that the locomotive be in its Great Northern Glacier Green livery where it has that minty-green look to it and not having a green hue that looks closer to olive green, that would look prettier and several Great Northern steam locomotives were painted in that Glacier Green/Mint Green color to begin with, making them stand out among other railways and railroads across the continent.

As a Floridian I am excited for the new passenger cars to be part of U.S. Sugar's fleet! I assume they'll be having two train consists: one that is stainless steel (Palmdale, 829, Biscayne Bay) and another that is the yellow "City of Miami" scheme (Miami Locks, Lake Okeechobee, Clewiston)

The national railroad museum has been full steam ahead with their fox river expansion (details of space added on their Instagram) and they have made necessary fixes to CN 104 f unit to have it run under its power once more.

Callihan Construction #1 is getting a second chance, GN #1355 is coming back to steam and more epic news. Wowza

The first GN steam locomotive to have a full restoration. Thats epic. If 1355 gets fully restored to running condition then it might have the possibility of GN 2584 being restored to running condition as well.

I have seen 1355 in person for years so 1-2 years ago I ask if it was possible to restore her to operation they said no ever since then I just knew it was possible to get her in operation one day. P.S. I live in the Sioux City, Iowa area so can't wait for the day she is fire up for the first time.❤

At the BC Forest Discovery Centre in North Cowichan, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, the rebuild of their narrow-gauge Shay locomotive, Hillcrest Lumber Company 1, has been completed. To see this Shay in operation after this rebuild, visit the YT channel of #LowLightMike.

This is awesome! I might have to check out the event at the Naugatuck Railroad. And it is great to see that another Belpaire firebox-equipped engine will be rebuilt, in the form of Great Northern 1355. I know that it'll never happen, but it would be awesome to see 1355 and the Pennsylvania Railroad 1361 and their Belpaire fireboxes side-by-side. I wonder if FMW Solutions will be recruited to build/refurbish 1355's firebox once they get 1361's built and fully installed
