IU's 4th mini album titled [CHAT-SHIRE], that everyone has been eagerly waited for, is finally released.
IU, who showed the development as a musician by creating the bond of sympathy among many fans with her delicate and unique emotions expressed through previous albums and songs made by herself, expanded her scope of participation to producing and tightly filled the album with her voice.
The new album [CHAT-SHIRE] includes 7 tracks in total singing what IU sees and experiences as well as her thoughts from others as a 23-year old girl by applying characters in the novel, while the title 'CHAT-SHIRE' refers to the states in which each character of the songs live, the small society you can travel around only with 23 steps.

誰もが待ち望んだIUの四枚目のミニアルバム『CHAT-SHIRE』がいよいよ公開される。
過去のアルバムや自作曲で繊細でありながらも特有の感性で、たくさんのファンの共感を巻き起こしてミュージシャンとしての成長を見せてくれたIUは、今回のアルバムでプロデュースにまで参加し、アルバム全体に自分の声をぎっしりと盛り込んだ。
今回のアルバム『CHAT-SHIRE』は、23歳のIUに起きていることや人々から感じたことを小説の中のキャラクターに代入して表現した全7曲で構成されている。アルバム名『CHAT-SHIRE』は、各曲のキャラクターたちが住んでいる州で、二十三歩あれば全部見回ることができる小さな社会を意味する。
모두가 기다려온 아이유의 네 번째 미니앨범 [CHAT-SHIRE]가 드디어 공개된다.
지난 앨범들과 발표하는 자작곡들을 통해 섬세하면서 독특한 감성으로 수 많은 팬들의 공감대를 불러일으키며 뮤지션으로의 성장을 보여준 아이유는 이번 앨범을 통해 프로듀싱까지 참여 영역을 확대해 앨범 전반에 자신의 목소리를 빼곡하게 담아냈다.
이번 앨범 [CHAT-SHIRE]는 23살의 아이유에게 일어나고 보이는 일들과 사람들에게서 느낀 생각들을 소설 속 캐릭터에 대입해 표현한 총 7곡이 수록되어 있으며, 앨범명 ‘CHAT-SHIRE’는 각 곡의 캐릭터들이 살고 있는 주(州), 스물 세 걸음이면 모두 돌아볼 수 있는 작은 사회를 의미한다.

아이유가 정체성 혼란와서 자기혐오를 겪고 있을때 그런 심정을 표현한것이 스물셋인데 어쩌면 아이유는 그때 당시 그런 말을 할수가없으니 노래로 알아봐주길 원했던게 아닐까 싶음. 하지만 예상과 다르게 마녀사냥 당해서 얼마나 상처 받았을지 가늠이 안됨. 나 같으면 세상을 도망치고 싶었을듯... 버텨줘서 정말 고마움

아니 내가 이걸 들을 나이가 되다니..23살이 될까? 싶게 멀어보이는 나이였는데 어느덧 24년 23살 ..성인 되고난 뒤로는 1년은 너무 빠른데 그 속도에 맞게 나는 잘 크고 있나 싶다… 뮤비처럼 뛰기에 급급한 느낌..:ㅎ 예전에 들었을때보다 스물셋 되고보니 진짜 가사가 공감되는 .. 나만 그런줄 알았는데.. 너나할것 없이 혼란스럽고 갈대같고..변덕 스럽고 다들 그렇구나 아이유 나이시리즈로 위로 받을수 있어 아이유에게 고마웁다🫂

스물셋-팔레트 이 서사를 참 좋아함.. 스물셋은 이때의 혼란스럽고 살짝 반항적인 감정을 이렇게 어린 나이에 이렇게 재치있고 매력있게 표현해낼 수 있다는게 봐도봐도 놀랍고 팔레트는 스물셋보다 훨씬 안정되고 나를 조금은 알게 되었다며 자기자신을 사랑하는 법을 알게 된 지은이가 너무 감동적이고 눈물남 이렇게 누구나 거쳐갈 수 있는 시기를 이렇게나 매력적이면서도 건강한 방식으로 표현해내고 세상과 소통해내었다는 점이 지금 25살이 된 내가 볼 때 그당시 아이유가 너무나도 대단하다고 느껴짐 정말 천재라고밖에 표현할 방법이 없다..내 부족한 어휘로는

OMG. This song is gold and it truly speak what IU (and probably most of the K-idols/artists/people) really feels. She's only 23, yet already 23, such a puzzling age especially when you live under the spotlight. It came out at perfect time too. Like all her haters talk about her being this cunning lil fox pretending to be innocent when she's not with all her dating scandal and relationship with all the man, etc3 ok. Kinda like Taylor Swift's Blank Space thing. Hahahahaa. Whatever. Her songs slay as always. IU fighting!!!

Today, I am 23. A Virgo 00' baby. I've been waiting 7 years to turn 23 so I can finally bop to this song at 23 just like IU. But now I truly understand all of the deep and illustrative poetry she sings in this song. I really did not expect to feel this versatile about what I want to do yet so clueless about my life currently. This song is truly a timeless masterpiece that relates with the mindset of this age. It's because this societal structure has caused us to feel pressure growing up on who we want to be and what we want to do. Truth is, only the right time can tell. Age can't. for anyone who's confused about the mv this was meant to show iu's struggle with being infantilized and kind of being forced to be innocent and child-like (both with the concepts she did and the way she acted off stage) this mv shows iu running through a mythical place seeing her struggle with the peculiarity of youth and the responsibilities of adulthood this was supposed to be the concept of the chat-sire era but people misunderstood it as a lolita concept for some reason :/

예전엔 이 노래가 가수 아이유의 이야기인줄 알았는데 스물셋이 되어서야 이게 23이라는 오묘한 숫자에 대한 이야기인 걸 이해했다. 남들 앞에서 가면을 썩 잘 쓰면서도 수틀리면 감정에 휩쓸리고, 섹시하고싶다가도 스쿨룩이 좋고, 여기선 어른인척 저기선 애인척 하는 정말 오묘하고 애매한 나이가 스물셋이라는 걸 느낀다. 아이유는 저 노래를 내기까지 정말 많은 고민을 하고 자신을 성찰했겠구나 싶음.

비판이 아닌 비난을 받았던, 그래서 더 아린 노래. 직설적인 가사임에도 불구하고 꼬아서, 색안경을 써가며 해석을 날조했던 노래. 그럼에도 '자신에 대해 인정(팔레트)'하며 , 때론 자기를 지키며 (삐삐) '경고'의 메세지를 보내고, 더 나아가 사람들에게 '사랑'을 노래하는 국민가수가 된 그녀에게 꽃길만 놓여져 있기를.

노래 너무 듣기 좋고, 흥겨운데 가사 읽으니 왜 슬프고, 눈물이 나는지. 그간 힘든것들이 얼마나 많았을까.. 그래도 한 계단 한계단 차곡차곡 성장해가며 포기하지않고 이렇게 멋진 노래들과 솔직한 가사, 다양한 감성들로 우리를 많이 행복하게 해줬다는것이 넘 멋지고 존경스럽다..아이유님 항상 행복하세요.

It's been less than an hour that i've been 23. It's so refreshing seeing how many people had the same thought to comeback to this song and share their experience, because in my case this period of my life is very confusing and reading everyone makes me feel comforted ❤ I remember finding this song when i was 17 or something, i couldn't really understand the meaning then, but I do now, every word in the lyrics.

In Korea, we count the age from the conception in mom's belly, so when a baby is born, it is already 1 year old. So, she was 23 in Korean age at that time. More interestingly, we also celebrate the baby's 100th day from the birth, which is 1 year from the conception.(I am not sure it is enough to explain Korean age in English, though.)

아직 22살이긴한데, 요즘따라 많이 듣는 노래입니다. 어릴때는 몰랐는데, 크면 클 수록 아이유는 천재적이라는 것을 느끼게 되네요. 나와는 비슷한 배경조차 가지지않은 타인임에도, 가사 하나하나가 공감되는 것이 신기해요. 그리고, 나와 같은 마음인 사람들이 한가득 인 것도 신기하고요. 모두의 공감과 감동을 이끌어내는 강한 한 마디의 문장을 만드는 것은 정말 어려운 일인데, 이 사람은 나와 비슷한 나이에 그 어려운 일을 해내네요. 가사와 멜로디 하나하나가 그냥 23살의 이지은을 나타내는 것 같아서, 더더욱 매력적인 노래라고 생각합니다. 그 나이대 특유의 까칠하고 예민하면서도, 걱정은 많지만 또 모든 것이 설렌 기분이 노래 군데군데에서 느껴지는 것도 매력적이구요. 23살의 이지은도 32살에 홀씨가 된 이지은씨도 너무너무 사랑하고, 진심으로 행복했으면 좋겠다...비록 팬은 아니다만...ㅠ

Like one second you'd think "the cutesy and pure love is my preference!" but the next second you'd think "or may be not, I want to be loved like a grown woman!". So you'd basically be confused about understanding yourself in such ways. In this comment thread, the first person said since that person turned 23, this song is relatable to them now. So someone else who is 11yo said how she'd have to wait for 12 more years to understand this then.

What I love so much about this song is how IU is able to convey the message, in both the lyrics and the actual video itself. The song itself is catchy and memorable, and I absolutely adore it, but listening to the song in a way brings an uneasy feeling, especially considering how much IU has gone through in her 15 years in the music industry. That subtle feeling of uneasiness is there throughout the entire song.

Shes not talking about that. Shes talking about the music industry and the confusion they cause. Make everyone think being an idol is grear but they deal with sexual harrassment with nothing done about it despite promises to handle it, stalking, no privacy seeing the same people every single day, no love life to speak up because they often say you cant date or have a romantoc or sexual relationship, theyre exhausted, and lose money from their managers pocketing tons of it and giving them very little. If you talk about it, they try to end your career. Its really crazy look it up.

사회는 성인으로서 모습을 요구하지만 내면은 여전히 어른이 아니죠. 그래서 어른의 모습을 보일 때도 있지만 지나치게 솔직해서 어린애같은 모습을 보일 때도 있는 나이죠. 그런데 20대가 지나서 30대가 와도 철이 들지 않습니다. 스물세살 때와 다른 점은 부모형제와 배우자, 자식을 포함한 가족을 비롯해서 남들이 볼 때는 혼란스럽지 않은 척 연기하는게 늘어나는 것이죠. 그래서 할머니 분들은 소녀감성을 가지고 계시고 할아버지 분들은 철없는 어린애같은 모습을 같이 가지고 계신다는 말이 있는게 아닌가 합니다. 아마 늙을 때까지도 우린 그렇게 철없는 자신을 안고 살아가는 것 같습니다. 사회가 요구하는 성인의 모습을 능숙하게 연기하고 책임을 다 하면서 말이죠.

She is 22 but in korea your age start when you are conceived, so there she is 23 but if its about birthday she is 1993 so it 22.

***** It's just a joke lol. because in korea the day you are born you will be considered 1 years old they count the year you are on your mother womb. And in Korea your age doesn't change in your birthday, instead it changes in January 1(New Year). So when i say they count the year when you are on your mother's womb, i don't mean the 9 months, what i mean is the "YEAR" So when you are born in December 31st, you will be 2 years old the next day(Jan 1st) because they count the Year and as a baby you are already in this world in two different year. Get it?

I first listened to this when I was 19. At first, I didn't think it would make a difference if I heard it when I was 19 or 23. But now that I'm 23, I completely understand what kind of state of mind IU was in. It's nice to come back to this song and see how much she's grown from this. It really helped to remind me that all of my struggles and uncertainties will pass too. I will know who I am and I will bloom like a lilac.

23세대한 노래 잘 없는데 아이유 23살에 대한 노래 잘 만들었네요 23살 나이 어리지만 어리지 않는 그렇다고 완전 성숙되지 않는 딱 중간의 나이이여서 제가 27년전의 23세때의 공감가는 노래라 가끔씩 듣는데 매번 새롭습니다 그때의 23살때 기억으로요

아이유가 정말 똑똑하고 깊고 묵묵한 사람이라는 걸 이 앨범을 과도기로 뚜렷하게 느꼈던 것 같다. 좋은 날로 급부상해서 너랑나, 분홍신 연속으로 터뜨리고 냈던 이 앨범 때 시기 상 너무 많은 나쁜 말들을 들었던.. 거기서 지치고 끝내버렸으면 우리는 그 좋은 노래들을 다 듣지 못했겠지. 계속 자기 신념대로 살아줘서 고맙다. 맘 편히 행복했으면 ㅠ
