We have mostly flat land and deep snow here in finland so 3" is more fun! Climbs good enough for the hills we have

You know, ive been thinking the same thing. I put a 3” on my xm, and I think it makes it trench out more than the stock 2.5”. It actually seems to be hindering it in a drag race uphill, as it doesn’t launch worth a can of beans, just sits there digging a hole to china, meanwhile the other guy is long gone. Ive been thinking I might just go back to the stock track 163 X 2.5” and try that.

You may need to adjust the clutching with the 3" track, you have more grip so you put more load on the engine, if you for example still have the same weights you probably don't run the same RPM, and you may have more belt slip if you don't have a shallower helix angle. You may even need to gear it down a notch, the clutch is very inefficient at the start and the end, its only really efficient at transferring power in the mid-range closer to 1 to 1 exchange (when the belt is traveling around the same size circle on both clutches). So it could be that you simply don't get the track speed up with the 3" lugs to where the clutch will be efficient enough for you to get that track really going.
@Trad-Am
@Trad-Am 5 жыл бұрын
considering the insane amount of weight transfer the doo's already have. Any track that calms that down, trenches less, and floats more, should be a huge benefit!

I know I've asked you this question before on instagram lol. I"m ok with the 2.6" on my axys. As of this season, I've got a few lugs that are torn off or broken and I'll be looking for a different track for next season. Have you looked at the Camso Conquer 280? This is what I'm thinking about getting. Price is good, I'll have to switch to 3.5 pitch drivers.

There is something magical about how the poo 2.6 floats, and hooks up. When I first road my axys 163x2.6, it surprised me and shot up a steep drainage wall, that my pro would have had to sidehill out. Now sure the axys has the taller chassis, and more power, but I really doubt the 2.4 the pro had, put on an axys would have made it!

I dunno I road a 2018 m800 153 with 3 inch and seemed like it got up on top better then my 2014 m800 162 2.6 snow pro maybe had to do with the the newer clutch in it or maybe it's track length I dunno just what I found.. just hear 3 inch paddles get ripped off more often cause of the trails in and out

A kid I grew up with (Rob Heiner) designed and built a tensioner device for the belt drive on the Polaris models. They did this because he and his brother like the big track, running turbo, with the belt drive system. Normally the turbo makes the belt drive slip so everyone (at least out here in western wyoming) runs the chaincase to compensate for this. These boys are always tinkering and trying to make things better and that's what he came up with. There's an outfit out of Utah that sells it for him, but couldn't tell you their name off the top of my head. Anyways, the whole point I'm making is that just because you want one thing (the bigger track) and it means you have to have something else with it from the factory (chaincase), doesn't mean you can't find a way to change it to what you want AND make it work. Where there's a will, there's a way.

"it gets up on the snow easier"- Why Chris? why does it get up on the snow easier?
@tristanmack5779
@tristanmack5779 5 жыл бұрын
Because it's not digging a trench. When you're trying to get unstuck or climb yes you want traction but you also want the ability to have the sled keep moving forward instead of just burying itself and the more track you have pushing snow the more it's going to just bury further down instead of manuver it's way out. He did say that in the video it just wasn't explained very well.
