theGovnr1 I have seen the boat. Those new Mercs are epic and reliable too. I met a couple of owners with boats powered by 7 marine and have had questionable opinions on the reliability. The 7’s sound fantastic though

Garmin have a simpler user interface and Volvo have tied their engine interface directly with Garmin as their consumer unit, The boat runs Seven Marines owned by Garmin, Mine is not to reason why.

Another 5 years of parts availability as far as I know. Seven marine powered boats, unfortunately not a good proposition these days.

To provide the deck space low in front and not on a cabin top the interior must be somewhat less than a v berth forward boat but there is still plenty for 2 staterooms worth of passengers. I don't expect nor care that those berths are no bigger than they are. The quality, fit and finish plus the no compromise head and full shower have me convinced i could spend a number of days and nights aboard in comfort. Adequate high quality sleeping quarters a deluxe head and shower and a decently equipped galley and i am good to go as long as the tanks are full starting out. Oh my! No crews quarters? Sorry, it's not that kind of boat. This is a rich persons version of minimalist ocean adventure fast travel. Or, this is a most deluxe day charter or exclusive overnight (dare i say honeymoon) charter for busy upwardly mobile newlyweds who have elected to do several different things on their honeymoon.

Jay L it’s subjective. Also in the big boys club I think you have the Scout 53, MTI 57, HCB 65, cigarette 59 Tirranna and The Midnight E. The midnight is more a yacht with high powered outboards. Far less utilitarian than the HCB, Scout or MTI. The Scout is a fantastic proposition as the Swiss Army knife of the group and another level as the all rounder with huge beam and large drop down aft side decks creating a beach deck aft. The MTI is all about speed and it is a fabulously executed huge day boat that can take a strong sea at speed but barely an overnight era to this level. The Cigarette is a totally different ball game and a direct competitor to the Midnight Express. A million dollars more and definitely a million dollars more boat. Personally I think the sweet spot for a luxury offshore Center console is 42 feet not 50 foot plus for me it’s Cigarette Huntress at the top end, Mystic M4200 (which I nearly bought and still may well do so) with triple 350’s not quads, insurance goes nuts in Florida if you have quads or more and over 350’s in that segment as it has in my mind the best mix of quality speed and value. If money is no object in the big boy club the Cigarette for luxury and speed with accommodation. For sheer awesome custom do anything and built like a warship the HCB is something else, definitely not the fastest but what a boat. However for that kind of money a barely used Viking and a new 42 custom center console that does 75 plus mph is accessible and those two as a mix are amazing. As I mentioned all subjective. Still looking over these magnificent machines is a pleasure in itself in my mind.

The British Boat Guy I’ve looked at the Cigarette and it’s probably my #2. Like you said though, it’s subjective. I don’t need all that speed on the water. The Pied a Mer has it all. It has speed and I believe the luxury element is well about the others. I do find it strange though that even with the price tag of the Pied A Met the Cigarette is million dollars more. I don’t see where the money goes. Maybe a bit more research will do.

@@thebritishboatguy3130 It would depend on what you wanted; speed or acceleration. Surface drives are faster than waterjets but the jets are quicker on plane and they can decelerate quickly also, plus the boat will have higher draft which helps in shallow water areas such as the Bahamas and jets won't hurt marine life. The 60 knot 124' Ermis2 has three waterjets and can stop almost within its length. This video shows the boat's exceptional performance and high speed. Everett Cox knew I had said the Hp rating wrong minute I said it . Midnight E shut the boat off for me at the show so wanted to get round it quickly. Totally agree big diesels would work great on this boat as it is kind of a misfit. More a yacht with centre console on top. The HCB or the Scout 53 are better as a center a console proposition. The MTI if you want pure speed. No budget restraint the Tirana is where it’s out. The 42 Midnight is a great centre console though.

@@thebritishboatguy3130 I would put diesels on the 65,000lb 65' HCB too. With o/bs its WOT is only 50 knots. 2200-2400hp MTUs would put it well over 60 knots I would guess. I think the 53' Scout is a gorgeous, well-thought-out yacht. The cockpit is massive, lots of glass and keeps rain and wind out the best of any CC I've seen. Idk what its weight is but the salesman says it's full carbon fiber and runs 70 with 6 Merc 400s. I think it would be more fuel-efficient from twin 14-1500hp diesels and either surface or waterjet drives. Again, idk what the Tiranna's weight is but Cigarette apparently has an ironclad contract with Merc to use its engines exclusively. But I wonder if Skip Braver(Cig CEO) would put diesels in that boat. Money talks and I bet there aren't many buyers for it with o/bs so he might... BTW you missed the ME's LOA; it's 43' GOTCHA again haahahaha. :-D

Everett Cox the guy to ask is John Cosker... owns Mystic Boats... can build a 200mph boat and has built one of the best all round Center consoles on the Market, he’s the only guy that can build a boat that says less is more... all the the big center consoles run outboards... Your spot on with The big Midnight E ... Diesels and 50 knots all day. Great debate.

@@thebritishboatguy3130 I met John when he and Dave Callan were running Dave's turbine boat at LOTO speed contests. I believe their fastest speed was something like 208-209. He was running 3000hp Lycoming turbines built at John Arruda's Turbine Marine, who also builds turbines for Nortech. He built his only 70' CC with 1900hp Cat diesels that I think runs over 80. He sold it to an elderly man who lives in the Bahamas so you might have seen it. Big white monster! Cosker builds 38' and 42' CCs now. Also 38' and 44' cats but he will custom build to suit, meaning his 50' R/P cats.

Everett Cox I did a video walk through with John onboard the C3800 and the M3800 and M4200. Nearly bought the 4200 a few years ago. Fantastic boat. What Mr Cosker doesn’t know about powerboats probably doesn’t exist. He’s also all about making a great boat instead of all about speed which is why he’s so good at what he does

It’s a very large, very fast center console with a hull like a motor cruiser. I couldn’t actually classify it in any other way.

I guess my question is could I take it from Florida to Nassau and the Caribbean if I wanted to? 60 feet and 700-1000 gallons of fuel is a lot of boat and fuel to stay on shore. I hear it’s very stable on some rough waters but can’t find any info on stormy weather. It’s seems like a boat that can be good at a lot of things: travel with 2 cabins, fishing, entertainment with some friends, and long range cruising. Thanks in advance

Tommy Topham to be fair the Tiranna is exceptional and a different boat. If you want to see how the Midnight E smashes down water check out the latest Haulover videos.. the Midnight Express is a serious heavy weight with outboard power. However a 60 ft Viking sport fisher is also a massive hitter. This is just a different angle

People who can afford to buy this boat are not the least bit concerned with what other people might think. They are buying it for the enjoyment they can have with it. Whether you show them respect for their buying this boat, or if you bear them nothing but envious contempt does not matter.

The boat was apparently a customers boat. Around 4 years old I believe and very well used. Everything gets beaten to hell in South Florida.

Same, but if I did, it wouldn't be this flashy exercise in style. I'd want something with liveaboard comfort for extended cruising. It's not even that nice inside compared to some of the Prado 50s I've seen.

@@user-er7gx5sm6g she does have aircon and a generator. A Viking won’t run at 60 knots and this won’t take a sea like a Viking. This particular boat is a very exotic take on motoryacht. A Viking is decades of experience in the finest sports fishing boats afloat. I personally own a Princess V class. Viking rebranded my boat as there sports cruiser line. It’s a not a comparison worth contemplating. Personally I would never consider this boat. It is however fabulous at what it does... goes very fast and smashes through water. Not too much else

Geoffrey Wallace correct on the engines on that boat 627’s. It was four. They didn’t offer quint on Seven Marines at the time only quad. Quint and now six Mercs up to 450’s. The Estrella has no where near the air draft of this boat and less volume but absolutely the Estrella is longer. Thank you for commenting

Not so much, its for the interior. The point of this thing is that you want to go fast and go places, have AC, full bathroom and galley, party, fish. But you always dont want a big slow motor yacht. You could get a nice used Boward for the price of this but its gonna top out at 20 knots and need a crew. Anyone can run a Midnight

In 25 years of boat ownership. I have never cooked on board. Made coffee in the morning, that’s about it. It’s not really part of this boats brief. Plenty of boats out there that are perfect for catering and blue water cruising. But as you say, this one isn’t that.

More than that, they have just done 6 x 450 Mercs... it’s a nuts boat

@@TheMrLebaron I can certainly see a benefit of 4 x 600hp vs 6 x 450hp. Less weight marginally less complexity. I am however dubious about a 600hp high performance V12 in a marine environment. I have an Aston Martin DB11 V12 with the same hp and it’s an expensive proposition in a car living in my garage most of the time. My experience with large common rail turbo diesels in my Princess is enough yearly headache for me

They keep upping the game. Last one was 6 x 450’s probably next 5 x 600hp mercs.

The video is 2 years old. There is a 65 foot HCB but it has no where near the hull volume

@@Yohann67 only problem with that is Volvo Penta has now shut down the 7 marine division so no more 6 and 700hp plus outboards for now. The greener future may see an end to the high performance outboard in time unfortunately

@@Yohann67 the only experience I have heard with 7’s has been horrible reliability. Merc are doing 7 year warranties on all racing outboards. They are power to weight excellent also. Probably something Volvo couldn’t match 7’s are very heavy. They do sound great though.

I have to agree, particularly on a boat capable of over 70 knots. I am am reluctant to consider technology reliance as an absolute solution to safety. This boat however, is an exercise in the extreme, the huge hull volume for such a fast boat is extraordinary.

Jeff Baran thank you for the feedback. The boat has nearly 30ft of cowling and very little else forward other than an electric sliding cabin door on the port side which is showed very clearly. Sorry you didn’t like the video. I also believe the world stopped using video tapes over 30 years ago.

More specs such as carbon fiber content would have been helpful, and 700gal fuel seems to me a bit low for this size yacht, especially for the engines which are known gas guzzlers(supercharged GM V8s). Top work BBG!
