As a Canadian, we really do appreciate it when travellers list the province of the city you're in. Our country is way too massive to just group all of us in as one. Incredible video, Jeb! It gave me a lot of tips for when I eventually book my own Rocky Mountaineer trip!

Don't know why but traveling by train just makes you feel like you're in some kind of alternate reality. Such a weird and cozy feeling at the same time! I'm a big train fan, not mention the epic views in the Canadian Rockies. Great video guys! :-)

If you ever stay in the town of Golden British Columbia Canada there is a lovely bed&breakfast resort that offers atv and horse back and mountain bike tours in the summer and snowshoe tours in the winter the horse Rome the entire building area it is a lovely place

Amtrak is currently in discussions with Canada, USA and Mexico governments to get a passenger route from Vancouver British Columbia to Mexico City if they get it and it performs well it may be extended all the way to Panama City

I am fortunate to live in this in this same area in central British Columbia. The Rky Mtn'r train goes right through my town. I have traveled these very canyons, bridges, rivers, lakes and hi-ways for over 40 years and counting. We get used to the scenery and beauty here. Thanks for showing me again how great this country is.

My step mom worked for Rocky Mountaineer for almost 15 years and was actually the liaison for all passengers and coordination within Kamloops so seeing this video on your channel is awesome!

I LOVE Canada! When I went it was the perfect time in the Maritimes. We went to Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Ontario. I will never forget the beauty of Canada.

I did a Rocky Mountaineer Rail tour back in the summer of 2002. It was from Vancouver to Jasper. My travel companions and I went with the Silver leaf package. Back then,even that was spectacular. The vegetarian food served at our seats was delicious. We may not have had dome car views, but the views of the gorgeous scenery, especially the copper sulfate colored lakes, will stay with me for the rest of my life.

When I traveled this train in the 1990s I did a round-trip Vancouver-Calgary. Yes the train went all the way to Calgary then. I stayed @ the Palliser Hotel next to the train station in Calgary. I'm a 'train-a-holic' have traveled over 250,000 km by train since 1955 mostly here in Canada (51x on "The Canadian") an entire month of May 1987 in Australia ("Indian-Pacific","The Queenslander" & other long-distance trains) & 2 weeks in June 1990 in UK when British Rail still existed. I travelled on the Rocky Mountaineer in 2019. It was unbelievably one of the best holidays ever. I travelled from Tasmania, Australia and whilst it took so long to get to our destination it was well and truly worth it.

Travelling by train obviously requires more time, but look at the wonderful scenery that you don't see from 38,000 feet! If you can afford the cost, the Rocky Mountaineer seems to be the perfect way to see the Canadian Rockies. Thanks Jeb and Suzanne, for taking me along, if only by video. You make it feel as if we are long-time friends 🤗

Travelled the exact same route - Banff to Vancouver - in September 2022 on the Rocky Mountaineer train (as well as some optional extras - Lake Minnewanka, Sulphur Mountain Gondola, Columbia Icefield - as part of our tour). Saw Lake Louise, Spiral Loop, Trans-Canada Highway, Banff, Kamloops, Bald eagles, Bears and magnificent mountain scenery. Great to see and experience.

Should be noted though that Jeb is the CEO and owner of one of the world's most successful sales training companies, so $2,250 for him is a lot more...expendable...than it is to you, me, and Mr. McGee. That money is a once-a-year vacation, or even once-a-decade vacation, to most people, but to him it's an impromptu trip. It's pretty awesome though seeing someone spend lots of money on amazing trips like this rather than on penthouse-suite stays and yacht sailing around NY Harbor like so often featured by well, the wealthy elite. Cheers to you, Jeb, for using your money to entertain and provide original content! Thank you for being you!

Suggestion: how about a train ride from Toronto to Halifax? Then a cruise down to New England to complete the trip. The views are not as stunning as the west route, but still enjoyable.

Problem is lack of connection. They'd have to somehow get from Halifax to Brunswick Maine to catch the downeaster service.

@@trainboy1979 "They'd have to somehow get from Halifax to Brunswick Maine " you can fly to boston in 2 hours and then ride the NEC train or Accella from there. 🙂 Or I guess go north on trains to Brunswick and then go back. 😃 Other option is fly to Portland, Maine and get a bus or something to Brunswick, but there's no direct flight so that's a six hour flight. 🙂

@@neutrino78x yeah. Not much for options to go from the maritimes to new england sadly. To fly into Boston you have to fly out of moncton or halifax to montreal first. No bus services across the border either. “They” dont make it easy thats for sure haha

@@trainboy1979 There's direct flights halifax to boston, however, if you're going somewhere north of boston, alas, nothing direct.... This is something the coming eVTOLs should help with eventually. Joby Aviation CEO said he was very confident he could start air taxi service in the Los Angeles Area starting in 2024. Those things are for short hops, they can only go 150 miles at 200 mph (battery powered), but maybe you could do more than one hop to get to a place that had a direct flight where you're going :)

Thank you for acknowledging the contributions of Chinese labourers in constructing the railroad. After its construction, the Chinese were treated very poorly and were discouraged from settling via a head tax and then eventually banned completely via an Exclusionary Act in the 1920s. It wasn't repealed until after WWII.

We did this reverse route last year at about the same time. I'm envious of your cooler weather and Fall foliage. There was a heat wave and the Fall colors were not so vibrant. That being said, the Rocky Mountaineer was amazing. We also booked the Gold Leaf and were not disappointed. After the two days on the train, we continued with 6 touring days in Jasper and Banff and flew home from Calgary. It was a wonderful trip to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. The Canadian hospitality was amazing and the food... Chef's kiss! We want to go back and spend more time in the Jasper area.

I did the round-trip Vancouver to Vancouver on the Silver Leaf Rocky Mountaineer. The trip was phenomenal. I was happy that I got to stay at Chateau Lake Louise, which was my mom's favorite place in the world. The hotel was kind enough to upgrade the room when I told them my mom's story. I also earned the Rocky Mountaineer's Order of the Salmon which they only give to one person per car on the trip.

I was lucky enough to go on the Rocky Monutaineer, taking it form Vancouver to Banff. It really is the most amazing experience and worth every penny. The staff were amazing, the views of the beautiful landscape of British Columbia and Alberta and the whole trip is something I will never forget. I would definitely recommend travelling from Vancouver as it leaves behind the built up busy city and heads out into the beautiful country and into the mountains.

I maintain that rail from Vancouver to Kamloops , always wave to the rocky mountaineer as it passes by. This was nice to watch and see all the places that I work. I’m lucky to be paid to spend so much time in these incredible , diverse, biomes and unique sceneries. Brings pride to maintain this amazing system and that it is appreciated . Thanks for the vid.

We're from Ohio but have made several trips to Canada from Quebec City out to Banff. Canada is a beautiful place, and we love our northern neighbors, what great people! The Rocky Mountaineer goes through such beautiful county, the Canadian Rockies are beyond description. This is a bucket list trip for me for sure. I'm from Alberta but have lived in Southern California for the last few decades. We would drive from Edmonton to Vancouver/Victoria.a few times a year and I really miss that trip. My dad worked for CN Railway (he's in heaven now) sooooo it has always been my dream to do a trip by train through the rockies. I love watching your videos! Great video. The reason you switched to CN tracks at Kamloops is because CP and CN operate a one way system. All westbound trains use CN tracks and all eastbound use the CP tracks. East of Kamloops CN and CP split. With CN going via the Yellowhead Pass and CP via the Eagle Pass in the Monashee mountains, Rogers Pass in the Selkirk mountains and Kicking Horse Pass in the Rocky Mountains.

My wife and I took Gold Leaf a few years ago. Hotels on both ends prior to an Alaska cruise. Met wonderful people on the train we travel with to this day. Rocky Mountaineer is top notch. Trip of a lifetime.

I live in Cheyenne, Wyoming and some days we could literally smell the smoke.... Those days I would say a prayer for the fire crews. A few years back we had a massive fire in Medicine Bow National forest (nearby and home to our water supply), and we'll never forget the pair of CL-415 fire bombers sent to help us... We deployed several of our Air National Guard C-130s (with Modular Airborne Firefighting Systems which turned them into firebombers) north to help our friends in Alberta. To anyone from Calgary.... Go Stampede from the home of Frontier Days!!!!

Good morning Jebb. I hear people complaining about the fares for the Rocky Mountaineer, but it is an all-inclusive rate, and from what I understand the staff treats you like Royalty.

I rode RM train a year earlier. Gold Leaf service. Yes, it can be a bit pricey, but it is Frist Class/5 Stars service. Some deals can be made through a travel agent, plus booking early for a deeper discount (a year in advance). You can add extra days before/after your train ride, via RM train or self-booking or Travel Agent. I recommend extra days in Calgary, Banff and Vancouver (2, 2 and 2 days each).

Jeb, if you guys have not done so already, definitely consider checking out Via Rail’s “Ocean” route, connecting Halifax to Montreal. It’s another sleeper train, heard good things. 😁

It's amazing. I would get on at Sackville, NB and get a roomette. I wouldn't sleep a wink. The window was basically the length of the bed. It was January and I would get ready, turn the light off, and put the blind up. I would just watch the beauty go by with gusts of snow coming off the tracks. Before I knew it, the lights of the Chateau Frontenac would come into view across the St. Lawrence. Absolutely magical!

Or maybe to Toronto with a Via rail or Metrolinx GO train connection to the beautiful Niagara region... the Falls and the Niagara river gorge attractions are amazing (no visit is complete without a ride on one the Whirlpool Jet boats) and an overnight stay in Niagara-on-the-Lake with a tour of the spectacular Niagara wine country's fertile vineyards with their perfect terroir soil just below the Niagara Escarpment.

About 20 years ago Murray Sayle (now deceased) did a GREAT vid, "the last train across Canada". The RM IS on my bucket list. Yeah is it expensive and costs similar to a European trip, BUT it IS a o once in a lifetime experience. We vac in Banff, Lake Louise and Emerald lake every year and have seen many RM trains pass by. All the people seem VERY HAPPY! Before I die I DO want to try this. As the world evolves into chaos it seems the RM is a way to separate yourself from the turmoil that is overtaking our planet. GREAT review guys!!!!!!!!

Between Kamloops and Mussion/Abottsford (east of Vancouver) , there was an agreement signed a few decades ago to use each railway's single track in one direction. The effective double tracking of the stretch increased each railway's capacity (so both railways benefited from sharing) compared to each railways stuck to their single track with few sidings due to the steep Fraser/Thompson river canyons for most of the stretch. So you are using CN track from Kamloops not because it is more scenic, but because it is the designated westbound track. At Cisco Crossing they did build a CN to CP (northbound) or CP to CN (southbound) interchange track. This helps in cases where one side is washed out and still allows a few trains per day to travel.

Like many fellow Canadians had already mentioned in the comment, thank you for mentioning some of the important history such as First Nation, Chinese workers who contributed in the creation of the railway. On Houseboat lake: This area of Shuswap Lake was hard hit by forest fires and massive evacuations all summer, so seeing no houseboats is understandable as the whole season was a total writeoff (and for many, litterally). The province's emergency orders prohibited tourism in region because all available hotel rooms were needed to hosue evacuues. The CPKC tracks were closed for a number of days due to risk of fire. The spiral tunnels are fascinating. The Amtrak route across the Oregon Cascades has several tunnels and one of them is a spiral (180-degree) tunnel. All by itself it can be disorienting west (north)-bound when you go from heading west on fairly flat ground to heading east on the side of a mountain looking down into a canyon. Can't imagine what several of these in a row would do to my head 😵...Great Video adding another entry to my Bucket List.... ...and YES to the houseboat!!!! 🛥🛥🛥 I vote for several days on a houseboat on Shasta Lake in NorCal. Who's with me?

There is a train in Mexico called Tren InterOceanico that goes from the Gulf Coast to the Pacific coast of Mexico. You guys should do an episode on this one. Mexico is full of culture, ancient sights and ruins and amazing food and people!!

I have traveled on the El Chepe Train from Chihuahua to Los Mochis. Simply the most spectacular train journey I have been on. Even saw snow fall in Creel. Creel to Los Mochis is simply spectacular scenery.

We live in the Bow Valley east of Banff. We never tire of our wonderful environment. Happy you could share “The Rocks” with your viewers. It is also a very pleasant drive Banff to Vancouver. Best drive for scenery is Between Lake Louise and Jasper! Thanks for your video.

Amazing content and really makes me want to go on an adventure like that. One question - HOW did you achieve the POV shots from "above" or "the top of the train" itself? As a famous content creator, did they have a special observation are filming area they allowed you to use? The footage really adds something wonderful to the viewing experience.

Thank you guys for such a lovely trip once again. The trains are amazing and look comfortable, the food delicious, I admire the staff (that we can't see) for making their clients comfortable and thoroughly enjoy the experience. I have always thought God blessed CANADA with so much beauty. It is incredible that man build those long rails, tunnels and bridges, and yes thanks to them we can enjoy the journey. When the world is in turmoil; just watch the Brooks videos pure joy and so delightful ♥

Thank you for this. In my past I was a tour bus driver through this same area before the Rocky Mountaineer began. Watching this, seeing the scenery and thinking back to the commentary I shared with so many from around the world, it was like a love letter to a part of Canada I love so much.
