The worst part of Amtrak is the latrines. They are only cleaned/cleared out maybe once a week. 10 hours into a long trip.....you might as well be in an old fashioned outhouse.

My wife and I had a roomette from Portland to St Louis several years ago. It was an outstanding experience, except for that top bunk which swayed so alarmingly going through the mountains that we ended up spooning on the lower bunk!

I love you guys, have been very transparent with your travels and yes, please include the price whether it be for one or two is very educational as well as sightseeing. Please include prices! I have a train obsessed 5 year old and my goodness, I want to take him on a train, so we love these videos, but I can’t afford these rooms. My kiddo is autistic and can’t deal with crowds. I had hope for a bit.

Why are the bunks so small. I am 6'2" and won't fit into either upper or lower.

The video says "Amtrack would never put in a sleep with a stranger". I don't know about Amtrack, but in Europe I have often been put in a sleeper with other men, and with couples. In China, I was put in a "soft class" (Communist term for first class} with a man and a woman who were not traveling together. Soft class has 4 beds per room, hard class has 6 beds. Some trains also have Super Soft Class with 2 beds per room.

I have to travel on amtrax. Jetblue doesn't give me my own room that I can shower and take a dump at the exact same time! That sounds like a great time! I've not accomplished this achievement in my life or travels yet.

Left Indianapolis at midnight heading east to Culpepper, Va. Fun trip and I had the cheap seats which are comfortable. Food was ok at breakfast and lunch was pretty simple. I did the return trip back home to Bloomington, IN.

American standards compare to your Asian train travel tour is so low in my opinion. Amtrak have not upgraded there train , lounge in LA and customers service experience.

Hi Jeb and Suzanne the train now used for the Andean Explorer. Used to travel between Cairns in far north Queensland and Sydney. It was called the Great South Pacific Express and operated from April 1999 until June 2003. It was out of service for a length of time. Before it was shipped to Peru.
