The right angle usb c adapter is for people that have bulky cases on their deck because the cable by itself doesn't fit properly when it's in some cases.

I don't have a steam deck, but listening is rewarding enough :)

I use the official dock and like it quite a bit. I agree with you about the rear ports, though. When I take my dock and Deck to my friend's house I always gotta get the stuff I'll need plugged in ASAP before I kinda push the dock out of the way and it becomes less accessible. I'm usually sitting at a fairly cramped spot and I have the Deck dock sideways next to a monitor. HDMI, ethernet, power, and at least one A to C cable to use with my controller of choice is what I plug in, then I shove it out of the way. I find it easiest to plug everything in before the Deck is placed in the dock so that I don't have to tilt a big bulky thing back and forth. A USB-C data/video port might be handy to have on a dock for portable monitors that can use C or HDMI, for cases where you're already using the HDMI port for a different monitor. I suppose I could also use a DP to HDMI adapter with the DP port, but that's one more thing to pack and one more point of failure. Maybe could also find a C to DP adapter. I've been wanting to get a second dock so I can leave my main one at home, and the one in this video seems fine, so I'd consider getting it.

I own the official dock station by Valve and I gotta say it is more than enough for me to be honest, it has 3 usb ports like the one you viewed in this video however the ports are not 3.2, but it more than makes up for it with how small it is so it’s easier to store away when needed, it also has rubber texture on where the deck sits as well as underneath.

Is it 2 displays showing the same picture or 2 independent displays if you use the HDMI and the DisplayPort?

Game Mode doesn't let you utilize a second display yet, last I checked, but Desktop Mode has all the options you describe, like a typical desktop experience. You can extend the screen or mirror it. It defaults to extended, I believe, having both internal and external displays enabled. Then when you enter Game Mode, the internal screen goes dark. Adding a third / second external display wouldn't change much probably. Maybe you'd have to configure which external monitor you wanted used. If mirroring is what you want, such as for giving each player their own screen so they can sit across from each other at a table, an HDMI splitter does the trick. I've used that to play Rivals of Aether with people in a group setting.

Can it do 2 screens with one fighting game at the same time while 2 people play on separate screens?

I forgot all about the steamdeck! How has it held up over time? Is it still worth getting in 2024?

I just got the OLED last month, it's great for portability and very versatile with what it can do. Plus the Linux OS runs some games better than my Windows PC.

@@RizenAgidyne The d-pad is poorly placed, and has bad diagonals. The analog sticks are *slippery plastic* for some reason, despite 50 years of innovation in input devices and rubberized plastics. The face buttons grind and get stuck constantly. The device is useless for high skill floor games like fighting games or FPS, and is barely suitable for navigating menus. Linux is absolute trash. Steam OS is a steaming turd. Touch screen functionality is trash. The track pad calibration/sensitivity is comically bad. Peripheral support is trash (no native Xinput in 2024? On a PC platform? Really?). "Supported" games have like a 30% chance of simply not working. Ancient games run hot despite low resource usage. Newer games (2015 on onward) often run at sub 40 fps despite low settings. Shader cache downloads 24/7 that never actually get applied to the game client. Poor WiFi connectivity makes it utterly useless as a PC streaming device... etc. etc. It's e-waste at best, and obnoxious trash at worst. I genuinely think the device is trash. I have not felt like booting the device in over a month, and my cheap tablet and a 40-dollar 8BitDo outclass it by miles.

@@RizenAgidyne KZfaq moderator bot just removed my multi-paragraph reply. 🙄 TL:DR version: Poor d-pad placement with bad diagonals, plastic slippery analog sticks, bad WiFi card, jank operating system, grindy face buttons, poor optimization, poor peripheral support, bad driver optimization, broken shader cache rollouts, etc. etc. Thing is easily outclassed by a cheap tablet and a budget controller.
I somehow got one
