I went in last week and been a Tmade fan set my heart on the qi10 but ended up with the darkspeed x. I Tried the ping, Tmade and finally darkspeed and honestly the best performing and looking driver was the cobra. It's now in the bag it's way more forgiving than last years model and the spin control is very low and consistent 🔥

I do like mostly all of your videos, but this one was really good. I like how you showed which driver he was using with the settings and weights beforehand. He clearly needs to setup an inch closer to the ball and tee it higher, it’s only his miss because he keeps doing the same thing over and over, so adjust. But anyways great video. I played Paradym X this past season, I’ve never hit anything as straight as that driver. The day QI10 came out I picked one up and the spin is about 400 rpm lower than Paradym X so for me the QI10 is playing a tad better with the lower spin. But I’ve been thinking, I didn’t love the Aerojet but I may want to try the Dark Speed.

It’s definitely not 😂 it’s average for PGA Tour. For amateurs I see probably 1% of people that I fit can hit 170 ball speed, even better players tend to be in the 150s or creeping into 160s

I have now been watching this video for 27 minutes, and have stopped or paused it several times to take a closer look at the launch monitor data on many hits and analyze the data in my head. So far, I have two observations, speaking as a professional clubfitter with nearly 33 years of experience: 1.) he absolutely needs to tee his ball a bit higher!, and 2.) so far, the Dark Speed driver was the best fit, with the Paradym AI Smoke Triple Diamond a close second.

Yeah I've been told that myself and instead of catching higher on face and more upright attack angle I fall apart sometimes what you should do and can are different... The guy was carrying a 300 yard green I think he's fine

@@sharkhark - True; and I am not knocking what results he is getting. I’m just commenting on what he can do to optimize that swing (with any driver he hits). That’s a good part of what we do as professional clubfitters. Even without increasing the upward AOA, teeing the ball slightly higher will make a significant improvement in the numbers.

Its one reason why i moved into the dark speed over tsr3. The look and confidence it gives me at address. Shaft change and also it performs better on off centre strikes. I was getting alot of low spin knuckle balls with the tsr3. Into the dark speed it was night and day difference and like that off the toe strikes it performed incredibly. Price to performance cobra are in a league of there own. Most underrated clubs

Really enjoyed the video and was an interesting fit, one thing I would like to see in all fittings is him to hit his current driver at the end to confirm the gains, just as a fully warmed up apples to apples test, doesnt matter in regards to the actual club fit the flight of the cobra looks miles better and the results were amazing, I do think every fit should end on the player hitting a few balls with their current club though.

Great video! I’m a big Cobra driver fan…just really good to look down at, and performance is great. I would’ve liked to see Ping and PXG in this fitting as well…I’ve seen several great videos on the new PXG Black Ops driver.

Thanks Paul, well for me it's more headweight than swingweight in this scenario. Because Luke plays such big grips to get back to a "normal" swingweight would mean adding so much weight. That would not be beneficial to Luke. As we saw the results were unreal 🙌

Issue I’ve got with midsize grips is I get pain in my knuckles when I practice a lot, so I went to jumbo grips which stopped that pain 😊

.Final thoughts: You got the perfect fit for him!!! Now, if he tees the ball 1/4" to 1/2" higher, you'll see 250 to 350 RPM less backspin, and I'm betting that this guy will get 300 yards or more of carry and a total of 325 yards or more with that driver.

I’m thinking the same thing, I watched a lot of these videos and they’re trying to make a club fitted for somebody who can’t hit the ball in the center of the face when most of the time it is always low on the face regardless of toe or heel, so while you’re at changing shafts etc. how about just get a tee that’s a little bit longer, unbelievable

@@epgolfstudios - I am sorry, but I must disagree with you there! Hitting the ball higher on the clubface, with the driver in particular, will launch the ball higher and also impart less backspin, both of which will increase carry distance for a golfer with the type of clubhead speed that this guy has. Also, hitting with a 3 to 4 degree positive (upward) angle of attack will also increase carry distance.

I was wrong about the TSR. I liked the Dark Speed 9 deg. I really likeded the shape of the 8 deg, but I could get those really low spinning hooks with it. So 9 deg is the lowest I would go with it. The Qi10 LS 9 deg set to 8.25 deg was 2153 rpm in avg spin. The Dark Speed 9 deg LS was 2070 rpmin avg spin.

Nice work! Have you found instances of the carbon face on the original stealth starting to go 'dead' (with less ball speed) after being in the bag for a year or two? Appreciate your response.

Thanks duke! And no I personally have not seen that or heard that feedback from any if my customers to be honest. I have seen faces randomly creating a lot more spin all of a sudden though. Not sure why or how but I've definitely seen that a few times with the older carbon faces

Coming at you from across the pond! I currently game the LTDX LS 10.5, Kai'li white 70 gram XS @ 44.5. Is it worth changing to the Darkspeed? I love the look but, aside from the cosmetics and additional weight, is there any performance improvement to be had? Cheers mate!

Hey Bob! I would say as long as yours is properly fitted then the performance gains will be very marginal, if any at all. But one thing I will say is the Darkspeed has certainly impressed me on off centre hits. So it may well be worth getting a fitting and putting it head to head against yours and see what happens 👍

You can decrease the swingweight by playing counterbalanced shaft, having heavier grip or shorter shaft. For example in this video -0.5'' of the shaft length decreased 3 swingweight points and MCC +4 Midsize again another 3 swingweight points. So instead of the stock D3 swingweight they got C7 swingweight.

It’s really interesting watching the functional low swing weights. Are people generally playing with too high swing weights, D0-D3? I’ve experimented going from D0 to C6 and gained 5 mph club head speed and better dispersion.

Yeah I'd rather play light than heavy that's for sure. Most time the issues come from people cutting down shafts way to short. As that affects swingweight but also playability. In this case the swingweight was coming from the big heavy grip. If we offset that back to D3 by adding mass to the head Luke would have lost a lot of speed and distance and likely would have struggled with strike. So it's not so much about what is that swingweight, but how are we achieving that swingweight

Great video. Would be interesting to know if there are top PGA-tour and European tour players that hit so much consistently from the outside. Would think Luke would gain more distance and consistency if straithening his path to 0-2 degrees out to in.

Yeah there are loads! It's generally speaking more consistent than trying to drop the path way from the inside and hitting a big draw. And no he won't really be losing any distance and for him that shit is super consistent, so it's a no brainer 🙌

Seems the cobra dark speed had alot of forgiveness. Would have been nice to see him try the ltdx ls to get a good comparison because his consistency of toe low hits. I game the ltdx ls and not sure if its worth switching .Thanks

Yeah, best head Cobra have ever made in my opinion. But the LTD X was also great! Only one way to find out if it will be better for you, better go get a fitting 😉

We don't do PXG woods. In all honesty never been a fan of them. But I have no idea how this latest one performs. I'm sure it will be decent. Most of them are all pretty close nowadays in all honesty. The most important thing by a mile is figuring out which head works best for you. That will always out perform anything else. But for someone else it could be a completely different head that does it for them.

When do you decide not to try some of the core models like TM or Callaway? Is it based on consistency of strike, attack angle, spin? I was curious if a core Qi10 at 9° would give him the more spin compared to the LS and he might even like the shape more since it’s different than LS. I guess you can’t try all the versions of heads or the client would get fatigued.

Spin and miss. For Luke the LS is better as naturally they are more fade bias heads and we want to take the left of out play as much as possible for him

Thanks a lot! And yeah because we don't have an account with Ping. They have specific criteria to open an account with them which we did not meet. But we are trying to work with them and get an account. Hopefully soon we will have one

36:41 C7 before a midsize grip? It'll probably drop down to C6 but you cannot argue with results! If he tee'd it up another quarter of an inch he would pick up another 8 to 10 yards. He seemed to live on the leading edge of most of these drivers including the dark speed LS final.

All the combos we hit had a Midsize MCC +4 on but yeah he wants jumbo so it will get lighter for sure. Again for me that's not a concern for Luke really but we can always test and see to be sure if anything does need altering

Not sure why he wasn’t in the 6X to begin with. Ventus blue 6S is fairly soft and with his speed he’s clearly an X for the blue. Usually I agree with your fittings but feel like there were some wasted swings using blue 6S

It's a tough one tbh. I don't really see speed being linked directly to flex like manufacturers would lead you to believe. As we've seen in my other vids. And Like has speed but is not an aggressive loader so could definitely play the S without any issues. We ended up in the 6 S from the last fitting we had and he has been gaming it for a couple of years and loved it and played very well with it, hence why we stuck with it for a while. Likely when he's back on out on course he will be back down at 108 to 110 And a lot lower in winter. So the X may well feel a bit boardy for him in winter but be fine in summer. But really he is a great player so he will hit fairways with both our on course.

But he didn't love the head. Plus there was nothing beating that Darkspeed set up anyway 🔥🔥🔥

Hit a lot less than in a normal fitting because Luke is class. And he already tees is very high, we've done this yet with many good players, they just adjust and still hit it in the same place more often than not.

*Huge hole in this test in the Taylormade testing missing from test the Qi10 Max head with the actual 10K max fargiveness 9° head in it with turned down open the squarish to open face @ 8° HUGE HACK is WORKING flawlessly. This year with Taylormade DON'T assume LS right off the bat for the better player.*

We will certainly be putting this to the test. If I'm completely honest with everything I've seen in club fitting, I really don't buy the 10k moi. I think it's just marketing, I don't think it has any real substance in terms of extra forgiveness. I still don't have a 9* max head as TM don't give you one as a demo. But it will be worth a test for sure. Highly unlikely Luke would have gone for it as the head is HUGE, even turned down it would be a lot more draw bias, and regardless nothing is touching that Darkspeed set up for him. It was insane.
