It's really interesting know the etymologies behind the Japanese pokemon names, it makes this video a lot more enjoyable. For example, with her Rockruff drawing, the Japanese name for Rockruff is "Iwanko", which is composed of "Iwa", meaning "Rock", and "Wanko", meaning "Puppy." However, Korone thought it was "Iwa" (Rock) plus "Ko" (Child), and that's why she drew a rock person.

Spinda -> literal devil fruit. Whismur-> drink of the gods from Kid Icarus if it got possessed Darkrai-> a sleep paralysis demon. Groudon-> the meatball from Aqua Teen Hungerforce if they mega evolved. Chatot-> rejected exeggcute design. Ludicolo-> rejected Digimon design Rockruff->Graveler but if he didn’t skip leg day Mawile-> pink Metapod with lips. Porygon-Z-> Ekans with a cramp and a bill. Porygon2-> Ekans with a bill doing aerobics Porygon-> Pinocchio’s dog. Skitty-> *PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!*

Reagan Tibbals It's different for various people, but the main complaints are usually that it looks more like a cartoon character than a Pokemon species, it's another humanoid starter final evo, some people are creeped out by the fact it looks like it's wearing a skin-tight suit and gloves, while others think it looks anorexic and overly lanky.

Reagan Tibbals I still think they have potential for good and bad designs (Cursola for example is awesome), but I was kind of disappointed with the starters. It's just preferences; you can't please everyone, nor can you disappoint everyone... but I really wish we could get a starter that stays on 4 legs in gen 9 :(
