If HGTV does not renew this show, can our local PBS station get some grant money and do it? They are so good for Detroit (Plus, I binge-watched all nine episodes and want more).

I just binge watched every episode on Discovery plus and I love it. I was really moved by the show and I will tell you that at the end, Shea really stoled the show. Shea and her husband, Terry, need to have their own show. Shea is not just gorgeous on the outside, but her inner beauty is undeniable. I want to see everyone associated with this show be super successful and have all their dreams come true. They are helping others while receiving blessings ❤️

They are the most adorable couple on the tv!!! always in a good mood and very very artistic!! The way they act together is so natural and I just love the way they move their personal belongings from house to house with a shop trolley . They deserve every cent they make and more!! Wishing them luck and happiness...

My favorite home-flipping show at the moment! I like how these two guys go around Detroit turning blighted neighborhoods into healthy thriving communities once again. I also like how they treat each home differently based on what vibe it's giving off at first impression. Most flippers just stick to a basic gameplan for every house they come across, but it's obvious this pair keeps the character (aka "SOUL") of a home at the forefront when going about their business. That's an extremely rare quality to see in this day and age. Think only that home-flipping couple from Laurel, Mississippi ('Home Town') can say the same as of today...

I love what these guys are doing to make affordable housing for everyone. And How they sleep in the houses they are renovating until they sell. But Season 1 episode 2 Dormer and Palm, and a few other’s have some outrageous designs that are a cluttered mess.Not my cup of tea, but other’s seem to like it. Btw, Rock The Block season 3, they should have won the bedroom and especially the bathroom! It was so beautiful and relaxing that I’d never leave.

I'm not "good" (saver) with money, but I know a guy (single/never married/no children) who is. I proposed doing exactly THIS over 15 years ago; he has NO ambition whatsoever though, and we both missed out on a great opportunity to make some money, and help "give back," by helping to improve the appearance of a neighborhood, and the value of nearby properties, the proverbial "win/win" scenario...

@@sandyb2391 There are a lot of social issues that people need to face here. Being a native of Detroit, born nearly 70 years ago, I saw the decline accelerate following the so-called 1967 "Race Riot." That in essence was an event that Real Estate developers used to promote new properties in Oakland County. Over the course of three years, the allure of new homes in Southfield pulled the White Middle Class out of Northwest Detroit, and the Black Middle Class followed within 10-20 years. Detroit has attempted a Renaissance on several occasions. And this new Renaissance seems to have greater substance by addressing the issue of urban blight and creating a positive image. Virginia Miller, I feel for you in being told "outsiders aren't welcome." Being tri- racial, I started to experience that sort of hostility as I grew up. But the attitude you experienced is ironic on several levels, largely an example of reverse discrimination. It seems someone forgot just two generations back some of their own people were told the same thing. The Civil Rights Movement was aiming at an integrated society where everyone had the same opportunities as American Citizens. This included the opportunity to live in neighborhoods of their choosing. Detroit continues to struggle as it tries to come back because it lost its major tax base decades ago. But Detroit will never truly become a vibrant and welcoming city to live in until the people there shed the hatred and embrace diversity.

@@RayPointerChannel Hello Ray. I enjoyed your eloquent way of writing and your personal historical story. However, it occurred to me that you seemed to be taking for granted that Virginia is white. I don't know if she is or not. I need more information. But if she is, I still feel like I need more information because there's always two sides to every story. Maybe she was an abrasive person or offensive. No offense, just a pause for thought. Love❤️

I have seen this series and I have serious concerns about it. They never show any work being done behind the finishes. Do they bring the homes up to code with respect to electric, plumbing, HVAC, structure etc... That is where the real money is required. They never show any permits or inspections and given the quick timelines for how they complete these projects that suggests they don't have them. I really hope they are doing the work properly as it would be good for the city - I just don't see evidence of it in their shows.

I was born in Detroit and wanted to move back to the Northwest side where I lived since I was 13. But there are too many detractors for me to do that at this time because the city does not collect enough tax revenue to support most of the Public Services. Water Bills are very high as one example. Another issue is the lack of supermarkets in the city limits. So if I have to go across 8 Mile Road to shop, I may as well live there. And I do.

@RayPointerChannel
@RayPointerChannel 3 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. I went into a lengthy review on another post. The show is unevenly balanced and seems to feature Keith's "concepts" of design over the basic construction that Evan does for the most part. It is the construction aspect that is most important when fixing up these houses. Focusing on the "design" aspect makes the process a bit superficial, even though appearance is a major factor in selling a house. I sometimes wonder what motivates Keith in his design concepts which may not always compliment or belong with a certain style of house. His concepts seem for the sake of the idea without a display of architectural continuity. They day he places Chinese Modern furniture in a Victorian house will be the day to turn this show off.
@victorialine5984
@victorialine5984 2 жыл бұрын
@@RayPointerChannel: agree and like you, pretty much made the same observations on the other vids I've seen. Keith's designs are too personal but at the same time, other aspects are bland and generic - Shaker-style cabinetry and that hideous fake marble. Design and style don't cost a fortune, but you need to know what you are doing. My rule in decorating is NOT to follow trends, especially those that will be expensive to change. The rose gold of a couple of years' ago has now been replaced by mat black. The next cliche is just around the corner.
