I think he said that because two of the pieces used to create the checkmate were across the board. It isn't worth nitpicking over. Maybe this comment in particular isn't doing it but rather being humorous but there were other comments saying the same thing

It's the middle of the board because you're only seeing the bottom-right corner of a 16x16 board.

But it's bad. Not that I disagree with him. Arguably, 2 rooks are slightly better than a queen, but in some positions, a queen might be better.

@@danielyuan9862 2 rooks are better when they can connect and coordinate and when the opposing queen doesn't have a clear attack. But I believe the incorrect statement being referred to is his last sentence "He just got mated in the middle of the board"

Generally two rooks are better than queens, of course there are exceptions. Being connected or well protected rooks should win about 2/3 of the time.

This reminds me of the game i played against an 1800 (my friend). I sacrificed THE QUEEEEEN for a bishop and 2 rooks, and ended up winning the game.

If you’re high level 2 rooks are better but for lower levels 1 queen is better. I once beat my friend who is much higher rated than me when he had 3 minor pieces and I had a single rook due to forks.

It's not always that simple. Knight and bishop are better than rook and pawn even though 6=6. Masters can use the two rooks to beat a queen, but when you're below 2000 rating it's just easier to use the queen to infiltrate and fork everything, so in that case the queen is probably better.
