Hello What's the difference between transducer & transmitter? Thanks
@NoxUmbrae
@NoxUmbrae 8 ай бұрын
It's been two months, as one expects these sort of videos are not very popular and because of that, responses will generally take a long time. *A transducer is a device that converts one type of energy into another of a different nature*, the classic example in instrumentation is the thermocouple. The thermocouple works passively (without being powered externally: this is important) as a sensor by generating a current in response to a change in temperature; it does this because of the way it works: two wires inside of a probe are made of different metals with different thermal and electric conductivities joined in two points, when the temperature increases, electrons are excited in the metal by the thermal energy and in order to lower their energy levels, migrate towards the colder part of the material, since the metals are connected and are of different conductivities, the electrons take the path of least resistance and their transit in the circuit is the measurable current. *A transmitter is a device that converts a signal into an industry standard*, in both format and magnitude, generally to be transmitted some distance from the point of measurement. The input signal is often electric or pneumatic, and the conversion output depends on the device that will receive the signal, generally being 4 to 20mA, 1 to 5V or sometimes 3 to 15 PSI (in pneumatic transmitters). Transmitters are often attached to or built (provided by the manufacturer) bundled with the sensor for the process value to be measured. It is sometimes difficult to learn these things because the professionals in the Industry tend to use terms interchangeably, though these things can sometimes denote the same object or assembly, they refer to different things.
