These sweet horses are angels to deal with all the ongoing torture imposed on their lives. The humans who ride and train walking horses are not horse people. They treat them like machines.

Not even going to comment on the breed, but if this happened at any other horse show the horse would have been taken out of the ring immediately and vet checked, NOT forced back into a saddle and walked around the ring until the judging was over... I honestly think it is a disgrace. Second off, he Kicked the Horse during the final judging "while the horse was on the ground"... This is ANIMAL ABUSE... Any other show the rider would have been disqualified for that action. My theory on what happened to the horse, I Do not Know. I wasn't there watching this horse go and wasn't in the heat that was supposedly there that day. Though I do think it is way to young for a horse to be fully shown as a 2 year old. Their bones are still growing and it IS Painful. How would you like to be ridden when every joint in your body is in pain. For all I know this rider and horse were disqualified because the horse went down and the rider given a penalty and not being allowed to show until the next year.

I'm just guessing that he was sored and was so tired of standing on his hind legs to take weight off the fronts in the previous days, that he just couldn't bear all that weight on the hind end any more. There are a lot of things disturbing in this video. First of all the cruelty, the way they ride, the age, soring, cutting the tendons of the tail, the bit, sitting on the vulnerable part of the back. The kicking after collapsing and the the announcement continues as if nothing happened. In any decent horse ahow, the show amd announcer would interrupt and make sure that the horse is being taken care of. I can't understand how vets say that horse is in good health.

So here's my theory - its utter cruelty!! Two years old and they have already suffered the abuse of having their docks broken and deformed plus having to wear those ridiculous weighted shoes is utterly disgusting. The left hind definitely seemed to give away and collapse. The thing I noticed was the tail before this was listing sideways from it's set, is it possible some tail set device had slipped and then was removed when the horse was on the ground? Because he walks away weight bearing fairly normally but with a flat tail. Having the end of your spine artificially 'set' up over your back has got to interfere with everything to do with the spine, it's blood supply, nerves, tendons, particularly down through the sacroiliac region. These horses are so young, these classes 'show' nothing except sadistic, psychopathic, narcissistic overall overweight people torturing baby horses for no good purpose except their own vanity. It says nothing good about America that this hasn't been banned and the torturers jailed for animal abuse. This barbaric behaviour is not practised anywhere else in the world and yet they call their classes 'World Grand Champion Weanling/2yo/3yo/4yo/mare/stallion whatever...This is a lie, the rest of the world would never do this to a horse. These people believe the world is them and they are the world. They usually are wealthy and can line the right pockets to keep their version of reality alive. Let them walk on....all the way to jail.

As if the barbarity of the Big Lick wasn't bad enough, a large human riding a two year old compounds the cruelty...don't dare quote racehorses back at me! It is not good they are ridden too young either, but they are closer to three when raced, have light weight jockeys riding out of the stirrups and don't have weights and chains on overgrown hooves! A horses spine has not fully developed before three and shouldn't really carry weight until five...I don't ride my horses until five and only lightly....they go on to be sound and ridden well into their thirties. Poor baby and shame on these horrible people. I've seen a video on You Tube of a lardy Western rider getting on a two year old horse, with that man and a heavy Western saddle, what chance did that poor baby have ! Why are these ignorant idiots in such a hurry?

In the very beginning of this video I could tell right away there was something wrong with that horse long before he showed signs of collapsing. Look at the conformation of all the horses, that horses tail was not in the same position as all the other horses which directed pointed my eyes in his direction. I am very saddened to have learned the goings on with this breed and the lengths certain humans will go to. :(

Let's see doing these things to an Arab, or better yet, a Thoroughbred. This horse should not have been shown at 2 years old. 2 years old is a bare minimum for beginning to ride. Some people wait until 3 or 4. There is obviously some nasty shoes on that horse's front hooves, and struggling to pick them up is causing damage to his joints and muscles. Knowing this is a horse performing the Big Lick, there is almost undoubtedly soring of some sort involved. This horse is only just beginning a miserable life. It's a shame people cannot see the issue with this event.

Putting those elevated and weighted shoes on these brilliant animals is like wearing high heels. Studies show it causes great pain to the horse’s hooves. It is illegal to use the practice of 'soring', but still, this inhumane practice continues.

A horse shouldn't be shown under saddle at 2! In harness sure, but they aren't ready for this at that age. A two year old shouldn't even have real shoes yet.

Why is a 2yo horse wearing a saddle and a rider? They say dressage and showjumping is bad, but horses get broken in at 3years old and then back on the meadow ... they start training at 3 (3 times a week max) years old and they only should show natural movement. No jumping young horses.

That's not a rider that gives a darn about the animal that's trusting enough to let him/her on his back. I would have been obviously concerned. Really any pet owner should educate themselves in the care of their animals, including basic emergency skills (if only reading up on how best to keep your pet calm). Having a background in emergency medicine for over a decade helps, but anyone can learn basic medical skills for their pets. I worked with someone who taught animal cpr classes for years. It's out there, just seek it out. Oh, and the worst part? Your horse falls down from a standstill and you kick it?! You shouldn't be let near a horse until you grow up (I don't care whether you're 10 or 50) and show some compassion towards the animals you're working with.

The roan horse second from the bottom started to collapse. The rider shifted his weight back in the saddle. You could see him become weak in the hind end and his tail curve to the side like horses do when they are getting ready to go down.

I've no idea how this still goes on. All the riders just look so creepy, the organ music, the creepy clothes, but above all these poor horses. That gelding could barely walk properly when it was led away. This is just condoned cruelty .
