Clement, I'm worried that if I apply to these FANG companies and get hired, I'll realize that I was way in over my head. That once I sit down to do the actual work, I'll have no idea what I'm doing -- essentially, be found out as an impostor. Did you have this fear when you got hired at Google? You seem very confident.

Clément, thanks for the transparency in this video, super helpful for those going after roles at Google and Facebook. And just so everyone is aware, Google now does a 33% 33% 22% 12% stock distribution model and they also model it off of a total cash number, no longer share amounts.

Dude. Clément. Your videos have been such a huge help to me, mentally. I only recently applied to coding bootcamps in NYC and like you, it seemed totally out of left field. But it was, and is, something that I really enjoy, and the choice made sense. These days I'm coding nonstop, even though the bootcamp hasn't started yet. After watching your "How I Learned to Code in 6 months" video, I knew I was on the right track. Thanks so much for being so transparent. Seriously! This is actually kind of depressing to watch as a software engineer in my late 30s that took 12+ years to get 200k total compensation. And on top of that, I had some personal life tragedies that caused severe financial problems. So watching this video makes me feel like I'm 12+ years behind my peers. Though anyone reading this who is not inspired, bear in mind Clement is an extreme outlier. Most software engineers in the USA, even at large tech companies in higher salary locations, do not earn 348k within 2 years after their CS BS.

Do self thought first then if you think you like to be around people who are doing the same thing and on the same boat as you with no experience like you, and you like to be motivated by people then do the in person coding bootcamp. I will recommend Flatiron School. That's one of my top choice am planning to go. Also check out "per Scholas" they teach Software Engineer and it's free of tuition. You don't have to pay anything. They have different locations. Check which location is closer to you that offers Software Engineer. And they guarantee you a job. This is my number one choice.

Hi Clement, I want to ask your opinion on something. In my company, we had a yearly review in late December. And raises were discussed, alongside all other things that were positive & bad about the company, a pretty open startup I would say. Since then I haven't received a response about the increase I asked, they didn't say yes, nor no. So my question is, it's been 20 days now, the holidays have passed. What should I do? Should I ask them to give me an answer? Is not replying a silent no? Should I consider looking for another job if they deny? Sum up: I've been there for 5 months now. I am considered a junior (I think), and I accepted an initial offer that is like a default starting point for FE engineer at any company, which is 20% lower from what I stated as a desired salary when we were negotiating, but I got the job because I had to under my circumstances at the time. And now I just said the same price again as I did back then. I am a new talent in the company I work with React and I know it pretty much all of it, at an advanced level, I also do the design decisions regarding the product versus my other colleagues who don't know FE, and only know jQuery and implementing some old-feel-like designs, So I think I'm much more worth in that regard. I didn't have 'working experience' but I tried on a few startup ideas so I got my knowledge and experience there, alone doing stuff thinking. But hey 'working in a team' is important on the interview, just so that they can leave you alone in a room right? Great team to use my team skills on.. I am a bit pissed so please If you can help out, I'd appreciate it. I am a bit lost I guess so I would like it if we can talk some on how to approach this. Also, anyone else reading this, you are welcomed to comment and give me advice.
