Great stuff..cheers for the mention. Could have chose Curtis. T-Rex was a coin toss.could have gone with Tanx as well! Psychocandy’s a great shout..I never thought of that! Yep..you picked the album from 92 I forgot! ‘Looking forward to Car Button Cloth rerelease as I think that’s a lost classic! Great you’ve done the nineties & after. Mine would be ‘Now I see A Darkness’ by Bonnie Prince Billie & maybye one of the Mark Lanegan early solo albums. Really good video.

Just stumbled on your channel, thanks to the KZfaq algorithm-awesome, awesome list! Not familiar with Rodney Graham, so I’ll definitely check this artist out! I know the Vulgar Boatman’s debut album in/around 1992 or so, was produced by Walter Salas-Humara of The Silos’ fame. If you’re not familiar with his/their material, definitely check them out-great 80s alt country rock band with I would even say, new wave/post-punk elements. Thank you for mentioning the Vulgar Boatman. I think they’re not mentioned too often as they should be. Also, no Prefab Sprout mentions?

Great idea and video. Ron Sexsmith's debut is great, he still doesn't get the recognition he deserves, even here in Canada. We're seeing him in Stratford Ontario next month. I've seen him several times and he's better live. Other than the debut, his albums don't quite capture how good a performer he is. Cheers from Canada.

Hi there from the Seattle area. I'm 60 last week and have been finding it harder and harder to find music that is new to me that I like enough to purchase and listen to. I watch loads of videos in this top ten series and yours is the best so far. Each record, I type into my music service and sample. That Modern Lovers record hits just right. Thank you so much for making this video. All the records were good. I will have to research the main guy you mentioned to see if he had any other releases or other bands. Cheers!

Cheers Mike-thats very kind of you to comment like that. Jonathan Richman is a great artist but I don't think he's made studio albums that do him justice in terms of sound/production etc. My favourite is JR and the Modern Lovers Live, which I think has been recently re-released

Hi 👋 I'm in my sixties, and i remember T Rex and his excellent Glam Rock music. My older brother bought that Electric Warrior album back in 1971. I own it on cd and it contains the neat song Hot Love as a bonus track. Tragic his death in 1977. He liked the Punk Rock 🧷 sound then. He was into the Damned. The Damned are a favorite group of mine. I liked the Smiths in the 1980s, and Morrissey is a good entertainer.

Great video. I was thinking this would be a very difficult one to make when i saw the title .. then you cleverly use the words ' Almost Perfect' ..is there genuinely a perfect album?. Great Van 2nd solo album, he'se at his most mystical and free. Love the Queen is Dead, their most accomplished album..Cemetry Gates is a great guitar song ( Johnny Marr does a video on KZfaq perforing a terrific instrumental version). I loved Its A Shame About Ray when it came out and played it a lot.

And as a follow-up? Artists/songs which have recognised species of fish. As a start and choosing an unjustifiably unsung rock pool species. ‘Blenny and the Jets’, ‘Blenny a tear has to fall’, ‘How Blenny more times’, ‘Coat of Blenny colours’ and,of course, ‘How Blenny lies’. A rich vein to mine, I think. Cod only knows.

I have to say, I find Freewheelin', The Times they Are A'Changin', Another Side, Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, Blonde on Blonde, and John Wesley Harding to be be "almost perfect", too. Blood on the Tracks is definitely, "almost perfect", with some of Dylan's most potent work, Idiot Wind, Shelter from the Storm, Simple Twist of Fate and Lily, Rosemary, and the Jack of Hearts matching his '60s standards. Bob might not have produced another LP to match any of those, but he has recorded songs as vital as any, like Things Have Changed. It's a remarkable body of work, unmatched by any contemporary artist. There are a lot of LPs from the Golden Age of Rock 'n' Roll that I can only listen to one, or two, sometimes three, songs, or one side, or the other. However, limiting myself to 10, or 20, is an exercise in futility.
