This is kinda odd, but I’d like to see your entire drawing process. Real time, like a draw-with-me video and you can just ramble about whatever you want. Invite your friends to hang out while you do it if you like, and just have a chill atmosphere while you explain the way you go from rough sketch > clean up > lineart > coloring > any in between these stages > and ESPECIALLY the way that you shade and highlight with all that detail and make your art seem to have a “shiny” like quality that really sticks out to me; it’s one of the things that especially attracts me to your art.

8:30 Gorillaz has only one artist named Jamie Hewlett he's been doing the art snice phase 1 of Gorillaz so his art has evolved and change a lot over the years. I don't know he was the only artist but I know he has done a for the band and such. The reason why the art looks like that its because the were based of the way monkeys, apes and of course gorillas look and over time threw the phases they evolved and became more human and slowly over time being part of the human world from what peiced together.

I forgot what album, but I remember the story behind it was that he did it all inside a taxi on his iPad. It’s either the Fall Christmas album, or the one from 2018. One he made in a taxi, the other he left in a taxi.

I've found the "don't use black" to not actually mean blocks of black...but like...don't airbrush black (plz no), and don't use black to get a darker version of the colors below it. But solid black forms? Ubiquitous in Comics and Anime. Just don't try to shade red with black to get a darker red.

hey! artist here! just here to say don’t compare yourself to professional artists (or any artists really) they have had 10+ years of experience and do it for a living which gives a lot of experience and it can really damage your confidence in art to compare what i recommend is comparing your art to your old art to see your progress! it’s a good confidence booster in your art and pushes you to continue drawing and gaining more skill!

8:30 As another comment stated Jamie Hewlett is the main artist for gorillaz, and a good place to look for long haired references would probably be his other project Tank Girl! I haven’t seen it in awhile but I somewhat remember longer hair

and i guess why the shading is inconsistent is because in music videos, they don't go into as much detail, and for illustrations, jamie goes ham. besides, the art style changes every album, so it's not that weird.

The imitated 3D in the AC and splatoon styles are insane to me! If you ever do thins again one style that I’m IN LOVE with is the promotional/concept art for splatoon, it might not be as much of a challenge as the in game style but it is SO expressive and fun and colorful and I’m so in love with it!
