17 X3's key fob won't too as many as this. It cannot do remote start since the vehicles didn't have it during the time. It cannot roll up the windows, but if you have comfort access, you can hold the door sensor and roll it up that way.

Hey Farooqp, great question, I've personally never heard of a BMW key fob being relay attacked. I do know there is not a way to disable that as far as I know.

Yes it will turn off after 15 mins, you can also press lock 3 times again to turn off remote start. Unfortunately no fob pocket, closest you'll get to is going to be the cupholders or the cubby right above it.

Videos won't be coming out for older generation BMW, the demand for those are very low, many of these buttons are shared from car to car though, I would watch some of the others of the newer cars and that may help a bit.

Good point. I believe the only feature you would lose would be the walk away and walk toward feature of course, you may also not be able to close the windows from the lock button on the fob.

Mostly standard on all newer BMWs. You do have to enable it in the settings menus

No setting for it unfortunately. The only thing close to it would be the feature to turn off the beeping sounds when you lock and unlock the car. I'm not aware of how the fuse box works, but a BMW technician might.

Will have to try it again, not sure if they made changes recently.

Hey Thunder, most likely will have this same key fob. The only bmw that has the brand new style currently is the iX. Even the i4 has this current generation fob.

Remote start will not, but the kick to open might. Your vehicle would have to have the keyless entry feature though.

My car has the keyless entry and the fob is exactly the same feature on the video.

You can do it in the driver profile menu and going into settings from that page. The best way is when you're setting up the profiles to have the designated key within the vehicle and moving the other one away from the vehicle. But go into settings, keep one key in the car, and you should be able to re-link it.

It should roll up the windows when holding lock, I'm not sure which country you're from but sometimes I have seen different key functions depending on the country. Here in the US you should be able to with a 2023 model. If not, another thing you could try is holding down the lock sensor on the door handle to see if that works. This method was what worked on the last generations.

Im quite sure for the X5s the comfort access feature is standard. Not the case if you had a X3. If you go into settings and go under where it says doors/access you should see comfort access located there.

Interesting, may have to do something with the laws of the area you're in. US Vehicles should have them.

@@BeamerView comfort access is a 1000 option in the UK for the i4 for example, it's insane. even my old Ford Focus had keyless entry and it was literally half the price.

@@BeamerView fold my mirrors in and likewise when I lock the car. My Volvos from 2006- all have had button fold and auto fold. You need your mirrors in for flip sake for a) a tempted vandals and b) falling drunks.

Not as many since these are more for the 2019+ X5s. If you're x5 has comfort access you can hold down the sensor on the door handle to roll up the window. That's one of the different ones.

US version BMWs are not allowed to close the trunk with the key fob, has to do with some safety law.

Are you referring to this key or the display key? There are two different ones.

There seems to be no way of checking on the level of battery charge remaining, e.g. 15% alerting the owner to the need to charge the battery to avoid an impending jump start. May be an issue with the key fob, I would try to replace the battery. A lot of the times if the key is in the purse it may cut off the signal too. Im sure you checked, but doors and access settings is where you're going find the comfort access feature if it has it.

Understood. Yes Pet mode would make much more sense. Honestly probably 5% of the population knows about the motion detector turn off. It would be nice to have a pet mode and then program that to one of the memory keys!

I second the desire for pet mode. I have two standard poodles that I would like to take with me and be able to leave in the car with the air con on. Tesla has pet mode. BMW needs it too!

Hey Don, thanks for reaching out. I have not seen it yet, but I strongly believe BMW will upgrade the new 7 series key fob. An example of what this will look like is in one of my older videos that I did on the new x7 LCI, video below. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/idOmidOc05zPdqM.html Fast forward to about 1:48 seconds to see the new design. Keep in mind that the shape will be the same but the designs on the key may vary. The iX key is also a similar shape but it doesn't have the fancy M strips that this X7 Msport has. I would personally recommend waiting for the cool key fob covers to come out, they still have yet to release from what i've seen so far, a local dealer should be one of the first ones to get them. They can also run the vin number of the vehicle your boss ordered and check to see if it fits. Your 23 X3 M40i will have the older design which is similar to what you see in this video, congrats on the purchase btw! Lastly, the functions/features on the new key fob and this one remain the same from what i've seen. Simply just a design/layout change. Hope this helps! Canberra Beige/Black SensaTec The 2023's come with the new SensaFin, which is basically sensatec but feel almost as good as leather.

Look on the side of the STEERING WHEEL COLUMN. Its the box that holds the steering wheel. On the side you'll see a picture of a key, you can hold your dead key fob there flat and then start the car. This means your battery is dead and needs to be replaced on your key.

Hold the new key near the steering wheel column, on the side that has the picture of a key (it's hard to see but it's where you would hold the key if the key fob was dead) and then as you're holding it there continue to press the start button over and over till it starts. Keep your other key away from the car.

For opening, i am not aware of yet. I do know by holding down the LOCK button on the key fob you are able to close the doors.

lol Thanks form the factory. That's taken off when the car is detailed, sold etc. It's not a true edge guard.

Haha Yes! It’s foam. And it comes off before owner takes the car. I purposely kept it on there for safety purposes.

I do believe that this key fob and its functions should work with the G11. I've sold a G11 to my girlfriend's father and I remember it had the same key fob as the one in the video. The only thing you may not get in the G11 is a remote start, so you won't be able to use that function. (This is if your country laws allow it in the first place)

If you mean your original key fob, that you would have to go into driver profiles settings and then forget the key from there. Easier if you just delete the profile all together and then log back into it with the key you wish to link with it. If you mean your digital key where it can link to the phone, within the settings menu there should be an option there to delete the main key and link another. Aw some. It’s been a while since I’ve had my Audi s5. Great car too. Yes can’t believe you all do not have remote start. I hope the electric cars being able to pre condition should help fix that going forward.

My old Acura TSX did this back in 2003. At this point, all vehicles should have the feature.

Remote start is nothing new for BMW. They've had it for a very long time, I'm curious why they aren't offering it in Germany?

No it does not, they discontinued it a couple years ago. The mybmw app is more useful these days and the iX is even going to have digital key plus where you don’t even have to pull out your phone to open the car!

Sorry didn't quite understand the question, could you re-phrase it? The vehicle can only unlock from the driver side if the key is nearby.

Unfortunately not. You can disable it all together but cannot tone it down.

Cannot =( You'd have to drive in sport mode, or code it with bimmercode.

Key cannot charge, you would have to replace the battery located within, behind the back flap.

Never been any issues with it.

I know they introduced it in 2021.

How it worked?

Hey Larry, that does seem like a glitch in the system that I would get checked. Might be with the key fob, or the trunk button located near the door.

5 series G30, has the same issue. In my experience it is the button being pressed accidentally when the fob is in my pocket. It can be coded out so that a much longer press is required, or so that the car has to be unlocked before the tailgate can be opened.

Couple different ways to do it. Digital Key Card: This is the credit card looking thing that comes with BMW's, if your BMW came with one that is. You have to make sure this is activated and when it's ready, tap and hold on the door handle to lock and unlock the vehicle. Then take it and place it on the phone holder tray / charging tray, thats located above the cup holders to start the vehicle. Many NEW BMW's, 2022 / 2023 come with the Phone Digital Key, which you could use the same way as the card but with the use of your phone. The way you set this up, again if your BMW is compatible with it, is to go into the MY BMW App, you should see a setup menu on the first screen if your BMW is compatible with the Phone Digital Key. Hope this helps.

Sure would love to add that to the list. Congrats on the new X5, most of the drawbacks about the key CARD is the fact that it's only good for a 1 year subscription. The digital key for iphones and androids is much more convenient. Being that your X5 is new it should be able to link to your phone as a digital key. If you don't already know, simply tap and hold your phone on the door handle to lock or unlock, and place on the charging tray to start the vehicle. You can give out up to 5 different digital key accesses to family members as well.

Good question, I could do a separate video on this or I should've mentioned it in this one. You would remove the manual key and then you are able to remove the back flap of the key by pulling on it hard, then you should see the battery that you can replace.

My sensor kept saying replace battery. Battery was changed. Now my 2 key pads are not working. I cannot lock and unlock the car. I did open my car manually. The alarm went off. Now it is saying , remote not connected. I have to put the key pad to the ignition sing to start the car.

You should just be able to buy the key fob from them, a lot of times to program it you would just have to hold it near the steering wheel column and press start a few times and it'll sync to the vehicle.

Seems to work for some vehicles, just finding this out recently!
