I am from Russia, Western Siberia to be exact (no, it’s not that bad ). My husband and I lived in Asheville since 2004 and absolutely love it here! In 2015 we became parents to a baby boy, Dmitry (named after my grandfather). And in January 2020 Dmitry became a big brother to Katya. We now share our home with Romeo, who is a jack russell (We lost our first dog in 2022).

Wow! Thanks for all that info!! Good stuff to know! I like one level living, doesn't have to be a ranch style home! Also, I don't have to be close to any downtown, but not too far in in the woods! Was surprised about no Costco for a town as big as Asheville! Good video Elena!

Asheville water is great - on par with NYC water, rated one of the best, if not the best. I remember a few years ago, some company actually bottled and sold NYC tap water in other places. Not sure if they're still around or not. Asheville water is so good because it's mountain water, as is NYC water.

Seems like with the cost of homes so out of reach, it would be wonderful for some developers to come up with single-floor cottage homes (zero lot lines) so that retirees and first-time home buyers have a chance at something there. Its got to happen, just see what Incredible Tiny Homes is doing over the mountains in Tennessee.

It would be. But it single level homes are more expensive. They take up more foundation and more roof. And zero lot lines can be hard to have. It would need to be a community with either city water/sewer or community sewer, not private septics/wells. And from what I hear, our permits and planning department is a real pain in the neck and basically have a ton of obstacles for willing and able builders .

Wow! Good video! Glad to hear there may be more "one level living" homes in the area. I don't need to live close to downtown, but not too far into the woods! Bears, you know!! Just kidding! Lol... I was surprised that there is no Costco in the area as the size of Asheville would seem to support one. Enjoyed all the facts, nice job!!
