Não querendo defender o programa mas acho que a produção nem sabia o que esse grupo ia cantar. Acho que a gravadora é a culpada, essa sim devia saber mas o dinheiro falava mais alto e aproveitaram que ninguém entendia ingles nessa época.

I (an American that loves Xuxa) am learning Portuguese because of the show and various Brazilian singers I love (older ones like Rita Lee, Chico Buarque, Elis Regina, etc. AND OF COURSE XUXA; I'VE LOVED HER SINCE I RANDOMLY DISCOVERED HER ON KZfaq WHEN I WAS 11) and a similar thing can apply to me when I try speaking Portuguese. By the way, the first part says: "Bread and butter. Bring me some water". which means "Pão e manteiga. Por favor, traga-me água."

No, the blond lady, Xuxa (pronounced "SHOO-sha") is a celebrity (and one of the richest women) in Brazil, where she has a long-running TV program for small children. This particular performance was in another program she presented at the time, a sort of musical hit parade, but due to her public image as "Queen of the Little Ones" (as she is called), they put lots of children there in the audience anyway. Not one of them understood a word of English, so they were absolutely clueless about what was being sung... Yet now, over 20 years later, you'd be shocked at some even more sexually explicit "Brazilian funk" lyrics - and those are sung in Portuguese, so everybody understands. They would be more careful today not to put children in the live audience, but they air those (ahem!) "songs" on radio and open TV all day anyway...
