3 жыл бұрынIllinois built up a lead with over 60% shooting from the field. Hawks were down by 9 at half, and were down 49-36 early in the second half. Iowa scored 6 points, then chipped away at the lead the rest of the half with excellent offensive rebounding. Steve Carfino hit a 3-pointer with 3 minutes to take the lead 63-61. Illinois had two chances to tie or win, but were unsuccessful.

Three point line on the floor because the Big 10(and many other leagues) were experimenting with the three point field goal in the 1982-83 season.

It took a while for the men's BB team to adopt the tigerhawk logo. I don't remember which year that happened...

Interesting to see Jim Thacker doing Big 10 basketball. For a long time he was the voice of ACC basketball.

Back in those days the band could play drums, percussion and bass guitar during live action, bang megaphones on the floor, etc. The Assembly Halls in Champaign and Bloomington in particular were famous for this. 1983, when this game was played, may have been one of the last year's it was allowed.
