Thank you so much! I'm 73 and have been cooking for 63 yrs. and my son introduced me to Instant Pot a few months ago and I love it! At 5'5" I weighed 181 lbs. last year. Today I weigh 160!!!! NO more frying. I also have an air fryer that my husband bought for me. Wish I had both 30 years ago! lol You are a very good teacher. Thanks again!

I'm a bit older than you. My mother had one of these in the 1940's. It was called a pressure cooker. It wasn't electric though. You used it on the stove. She canned all kinds of things back then because of the food shortages during WW2.

Thank you so much for the great recipes. I'm just learning how to cook in an instant pot. I'm 73, and I remember watching my mother pressure cook food. Let me tell you, it was scary every time with the rattling of the button on top and crazy steam. I was a little nervous at first using my new pot, but it's not as scary as the old time ones.

My tip for corn 🌽 is turn a trivet upside down, stand cobs up. Make sure they aren't above "fill line". 1 cup water, 2 tbsp butter, and salt to taste. You can get more than 4 ears in a 6 at doing it this way.

works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside kzfaq.infoUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

I was a bit intimidated by the instapot because I’m older and remember pressure cooker accidents. I couldn’t sleep one night and found your favorite recipes. I made your creamy enchilada soup and it was delicious. It makes a big batch for 2 people and I didn’t know how it would freeze so I sent half to my neighbors. They dipped into it immediately and raved about it. Then I came home….browned hamburger in it and then cooked pasta for spaghetti. Amazing!!! I think I need to go shopping tomorrow to get ingredients for a few other recipes that caught my eye! Thanks for your time and effort! I, for one, really appreciate your help!

Love the recipes. On the shredded cheese, there is a coating that is put on the cheese as a preservative so if you are looking for healthy and getting more cheese for your $, buy the block and you won't have the costing, plus block always tastes better.

Cornstarch or cellulose, the stuff they use to keep shredded cheese isn't really a health issue, though at times it can be a performance one. And block cheese is nice, but requires extra prep/processing. I use both, but most often the convenience far outweighs the quality difference

Just say that over here (UK) I’m diabetic type 2, so white rice is off the menu, but it is so easy to cook brown rice in my electric pressure cooker which I found difficult and took a long time on the hob, (I’ve asked for a good size Instant Pot for Christmas). This may be anathema to many but I cook 3 cups rice to 4.5 cups water and after 17 mins it’s perfect. I cool it quickly and it’s easy peasy to use with chilli or Thai red chicken. Have even converted the daughter and husband.. Really enjoy your videos.

You can use frozen chuck roast. I run it under Coldwater so it's thawed little bit on both sides( seasoning will stick that way). I put oil in the bottom of the pan and sautee it. I use water and wine. You can also use beef broth. For the carrots and potatoes I cut them up in big pieces I use baby carrots. I put them in tin foil and Put them on top of the meat, and let it cook for about an hour and 15 minutes or 20. Let it slow release for 10 t0 15 minutes. The potatoes and carrots won't be mushy. The carrots are still firmish. Thanks to KZfaq I have learned some tricks along the way! I am so looking forward to making you delicious recipes! P.s. Don't forget to deglaze the pot.

When the instant pot.came out I bought one for my daughter and one for me. Well we our husband's love the food so much, that they are disappointed when we go out for dinner! I really appreciate your freezer to instant pot meals. Thank you.

I wore a Ip out. Bought it in 2015 and have never used it on any other setting then manual. I probably use it at least twice a week I've even used it when feeding a large crowd by rolling pork ribs vertically so the bone is sticking up cooking them in the instapot and then finishing on the fire. Thanks for all your great tips.

See this makes more since to me. I love my instant pot, but for boiling eggs, no! Everyone loves to post videos that show the cook time. Never the pressurized your or release time. For 6 eggs it would have totaled about 25-30 mins. That's way too long.

I did eggs as the first thing in my new Instant Pot just tonight. It took 7 minutes to get pressurized, 5 minutes of pressure cooking, 5 minutes natural release and then 5 minutes in an ice bath. They were perfect and-even more importantly-the shells came off so easily! Like a dream.😍 You can pile up a whole mess of them in there. I will be doing my hard boiled eggs this way from now on.

I’ve been using electric pressure cookers for years. I was on my 3rd on when the Instant Pot came out, and I consider myself a Rice expert in this area..lol But seriously, I do NOT like sticky white rice. 🍚 There’s no way that I’m serving it sticky. I use Basmati Rice, and I don’t use anything but rice and water. 1 1/2 cups water for every 1 cup of rice. Cook on Manual for 4 minutes! Doesn’t matter if you release the pressure or not, it comes out flaky and perfectly cooked every time. It’s very soft and tender, yet not at all sticky. I never use the rice button for that reason, that’s cooking it WAY too long. I also rinse my rice, I forgot to add. But if you want perfectly non sticky rice, try this.:))
@friendlymomma
@friendlymomma 3 жыл бұрын
I was shocked about the 4 minute cook time! We make giant batches of rice in our 8 qt IP using the rice setting (I think it's about 12 min), and sometimes it isn't cooked through.
@RainyJo715
@RainyJo715 2 жыл бұрын
@@friendlymomma That’s really odd. I definitely don’t cook giant batches, but this is the absolute only way that I ever cook rice, and I like my rice soft and done. It’s perfect every single time for me, I promise you. I use basmati rice, and it comes out great and never sticky at only 4 minutes. I use 1 1/2 cups water to 1 cup of rice. Maybe that’s the difference, idk, but I know for sure it works wonderfully for me. :))

Kristin, you taught me how to use my Instant Pot when I first got it. As a 78 year old invalid, it has changed my life. I was buying most food cooked (a lot of fast food). Since I got the IP almost 2 years ago, I rarely EVER buy cooked food. Your videos are wonderful. I have one suggestion about cooking pasta in an Instant Pot. A different KZfaq told me that you do not keep to cover pasta with water in an Instant Pot. Just make sure each piece of pasta is wet, and it will steam and cook perfectly. It comes out perfectly. Try it some time. It saves having too much liquid.

I am Cuban & my family loves eating Picadillo. Ground beef & onions& green pepper & lots of garlic& tomato sauce & worcestershire & s little wine & Goya spices that come in a very small box & inside it has the little envelopes & lots of olives stuffed with pimentoes & raisins. You eat this on top of white rice. Has the consistency of Spaghetti sauce. Some times I eat it with boiled spaghetty or angel hair, just a little different . I like my Picadillo soupy some people like it dryer. You can stuff round disks of dough to make empanadas. Those come frozen. For the recipe look up Cuban Picadillo. Enjoy.
