This is been my dream car since I first test drove one eight years ago. I picked up a used one for just under $30,000 few years ago. It's an amazing car it does 0 to 60 in four seconds and is more efficient than a Prius. I still think it's the best looking Tesla made. It has the original battery and is on the second drive motor that was replaced early with a more robust unit. The door handles are fine and the only thing I've had done is the suspension bushings replaced in the front.
If you and and EV (Tesla or not) you should have the PlugShare app. It's great for finding chargers in your area.
My 2013 Tesla Model S P85+ Top 10 list the good and bad of 2023. 168,000 miles on the battery.

Last year I finally changed over from the Toyota Prius Prime to a Model S85 and have not looked back. It had done 100K km and when I went to insure it the company asked if I wanted the extra Tesla package for a monthly additional fee of $15 which covers battery and motor replacements until I hit 200K km which is of course a no brainer as the original warranty was about to expire. It's a 2014 model and I'm still getting around 460 km on a charge, depending on the weather of course. Here in Norway there is worldwide free and unlimited SuperCharging and LTE internet connection for my car and I never fail to be amazed at just how much money I'm saving every day when gas prices here in Norway have been up to almost $3 a litre, not to mention the excessive home charging costs. In fact in the Tesla app you can see a total of exactly how much money I am saving in pertol costs that's updated in real time. So why do I drive a Tesla - apart from the luxury ride and brilliant engineering and raw performance? Because I probably couldn't afford to drive anything else . . . . And here's a tip for the newbies - ALWAYS select your SuperCharger detsination using the navigation function, even though you know where it is because the car automatically preconditions the battery pack to enable it to charge faster when plug it in on arrival!

Dont do it. If youre considering a newer Model 3 vs an older Model S, you may be much better with the model 3. I have a 2015 MS 70D. The MCU is slow as crap that its almost unusable. My 70D got 240 miles to a charge brand new. Now it gets 208 miles at 94% charge. I'll be getting a P100D very shortly. That 208 miles range isnt very user friendly except in town. New Model 3's have better range than older Model S's. For me thats a difference maker.

I purchased a 2016 S 70D in 2020 for 40,000 dollars. it had only 18,000 miles on it. This was a complete steal. I purchased it at Off Lease Only, No warranty. I got lucky, the car had been in accident but it was fixed up pretty good. I bought it right there. I made sure it tracked straight which is the bottom line. It turned out to be a mechanically sound car. I should have had a mechanic with me and dont do it any other way. That aside. I absolutely love the car. Its faster than I thought and has autopilot and free charging which is a big plus. Its clean too. I had it ceramic coated and it was professionally done and prepared for the coating. So it sparkles. Not like regular Teslas. And be sure and do this. What can I say Im the king of the road with my Tesla S and it only cost me 40K. Right now I have 40K miles too and the battery is down only about 4 percent over seven years. I like it so much that we just bought a Y LR and love that too. We use our home charger for both and this is what you should do.Get two.

I bought a six year old model S P85D and I highly recommend it. It has the extended warrenty (8 years on everything) so still two years left on that. My favorite thing is the winter package which lets me sit in my appartment and thaw the car up before I go down to it. Scraping ice of the windows in the morning is one of my least favorite things to do, but this car is nice and warm when I get in it. Also the Hi-Fi package + quiet car + spotify app = music time. One tip though: You don't really need the "P", this thing is scary fast. I have tried to "launch" it in an empty parking lot, but would never do it on public roads. 3.3s sounds great on paper but in real life it is just dangerous, someone could pull out in front of you because they don't hear you comming. Two thing I get asked a lot: It still has 89% battery left, if the original WLTP range can be trusted. And it drives a Km in one third the cost of gasoline, 170wh/Km in the summer, 200Wh/Km in the winter.

I bought an older Model S privately. The owner gave me the password to his Tesla account. All I had to do was change the account details - name, address, email address, telephone and of course a new password. The car was effectively mine as far as Tesla were concerned and it kept the free Supercharging, lifetime Premium connectivity with Spotify, TuneIn etc., an outstanding recall was still pending and free 1 year subscription to the parts and service manuals. A factory reset is rather drastic so I just modified the car settings to my taste and updated the software when available. The warranties had expired a month earlier so no cover. The Service Centre local to me recognised me as the owner when I logged my first ticket. The car had a few faults but the price was fair.

I picked up a 2014 Tesla 85 RWD in 2021 with 54,003 miles with a clean carfax, the tech package, the auto suspension and a panoramic sunroof for $29,200. Had it shipped from near Chicago for $1,450 and after all the fees and California taxes the out the door grand total price was $33,850 and I love it. The new car retail price was over $92,000 so I only paid about a third of the new car price. Supposedly the battery should last between 300,000 and 500,000 miles so if I can get anywhere near 300,000 for what I paid for it I'll be thrilled and when the battery does die I'll just get new one for $15,000 to $20,000 and it will be almost like having a new Tesla since all model S's from 2013 to 2022 look very similar inside and out.

Couple of things, I belive some of the 70s can be uncorked to 75, you can ask Tesla about that. The MCU2 upgrade is game changing, it's a whole new car, starts upfaster, syncs faster, more content, more reliable, you will love it.

OK there are some good reasons but ; some reasons not to buy a used Tesla include - Do you know the entire history? Could the vehicle have been exposed to salt water corrosion? #2 what is the milelage - if the vehicle has gone beyond warranty on the battery or if it is getting close to it - if the battery goes out ; it is on you to have it replaced and that can cost $20,000 on an S model. Check the tires are good; a new set can easily cost $2000. Obviously the regular things like have it scanned for problems, drive it, inspect it for damage.

Is there any better deal?
