Winter is finally here and it's brought some frigid cold temperatures. In this episode I venture out to the frozen wilderness with a simple kit including a tarp shelter and two wool blankets. Despite the cold I'm able to get a comfortable camp set up, enjoy a few delicious meals cooked over the campfire, and stay warm thanks to a hot-burning long fire. Thank you to everyone who watches! God bless.
Extra Info:
Temperatures during this trip - During the day it was -15⁰C (5⁰F) and during the night it got down to -28⁰C (-18⁰F)
What about wildlife? - Bears are sleeping the winter away in their dens. Wolves and mountain lions in this area are very timid towards people. Encountering dangerous wildlife is uncommon but I do carry a form of protection just in case.
Bannock/Pan Bread recipe - 1 cup flour, 1/2 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt. Mix dry ingredients thoroughly. Add ~1/2 cup of water to form a thick dough. Pan fry over low heat for 10-15 minutes.
Beaver Tail/Cinnamon Sugar Fry Bread recipe - 1/2 cup flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 3 teaspoons white sugar, 2 teaspoons butter, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract. Mix ingredients thoroughly until butter is broken down to form a dry crumbly mix. Add enough water to form a thick dough. Thin dough to ~1/4 inch. Fry over medium heat until both sides are golden brown. Top with cinnamon sugar or topping of choice.

It's because Biden is president and the world is full of chaos. You need to tie back to a calm, non-political environment to ground and center yourself. Your brain is literally seeking it out artificially from YT because it's the easiest recourse for you to get something similar.

Brother Kusk👍👍 Your approach to and easiness of enjoying the wild is much appreciated, few wilderness content creators show their true ability to live simply for the experience as you do. You have proven time and again "the more you know the less you need" scenario. There's too many creators out there that carry every new gadget, gizmo and gear, too complicated, which makes watching you that much more pleasurable. Breakfast sweet bread looked amazing, trying it out today unfortunately no campfire but thanks for the recipe. Good fire, good food, good time, thanks for the work. Stay safe and vigilant, see ya soon.

Now this is true outdoor camping using the available resources that Mother Nature provides 👍👏🌲🏕!! I enjoy these videos and plus learning.

finally someone who (winter cold) starts with a fire BEFORE their shelter... It is okay to then let it become coals because that will easily reignite when it is time to eat, etc, but when you are building your shelter it is important to be able to warm up your hands if they get cold....... wow, my jaw dropped when I saw you place your ridge pole facing rear! That is brilliant!!

Thing I always feared and had happen a few times was having some freak gust of wind clear all the snow from some nearby tree top I thought I had setup well clear of, and drop it right down on my gear, or worse my fire.😂 I entertained the local wildlife with my profanity on those occasions and when I saw that tree swaying feared the worse for you. Fantastic. When I was you age, which was a long time ago, I camped out on a mountain pass in Wyoming when it was really, really cold. Did not have a tent or any shelter and no fire. I was very exposed to the elements. I recall waking up shivering during the middle of the night and wondering if I was going to survive. In the very early morning I got up and tried to get feeling back into my legs which were numb from above the knees down to my feet. Needless to say I was physically exhausted. Your video reminded me of that time. It would have been nice to have your skillset. Really enjoyed this video!!
