In the U.S. the Esso brand was changed to Exxon starting in the Fall of 1972. Esso service stations still exists today in countries such as Canada, South Africa and European countries. "Put a Tiger in your Tank!" and "Happy Motoring!"

The franchise based service station model turned out to be a disaster. Too many dealers ran their station like junk yards.
