The 36v version of these two are my favs and they’re freakin beastly with the torque and power they put out. Gotta at least use them with a 5 or 8 amp hour green multi volt battery. I’ve used and own all the big stuff from Red, Yellow and also Flex. Still love my Metabo HPT’s tho. Prob why RR buildings use them as well. Great vid man!

So, I own this set and the 36v versions as well. With my experience and with the fact that I use these tools on commercial jobs (I do electrical work). These are great tools. The 3ah batteries are great with the impact. It's light, comfortable and easy to use in most any situation. The hammer drill is great as well and is better with the higher ah batteries. P on the impact is a power mode and ramps up the speed, whereas the S is a smart mode where it slows down so that you don't strip out the material in which you are fastening to. Absolutely great for what I'm doing. However, the 36v versions of these are amazing. The impact just goes and goes. And the hammer drill is just like a hole hog. Also, Hi Koki makes these tools. A Japanese firm that bought Hitachi. So in a nutshell, these are Hitachi tools. Hence the HPT (Hitachi Power Tools). Because of legal reasons, they could not keep the Hitachi name.

I just read your review and pulled the trigger on the 36volt hammer/driver kit. ( I fell into a great deal early this year on their 4 piece combo and have enjoyed using them) I bought the 36V rear handle circular saw and the reciprocating saw ( not a kit) one was 199 the other 179 and each came with a bonus Black Friday battery and charger 36 volt.. Thanks for your review now my set needs are complete.

I have the same metabo hpt impact driver. The p mode is the fastest and most powerful mode. Speed 1 is for precision work, speed 2 is a faster speed but it is less powerful to preserve the battery life. The final mode labelled s is for self tapping screws into metal.

You need to sell merch with your signature phrase that you use in every video: "so... yeah." 😄😉 Just messing with ya! Keep the good videos coming! One suggestion I would make: do a bit more research on the product prior to unboxing (for example, the P is not "precision" but their Power mode, and the times showed it). Metabo is the dark green model, made in Germany. Metabo HPT (Hitachi Power Tool) is the former Hitachi line of tools, but now produced largely in China instead of Japan. Not really a different tier like Milwaukee, DeWalt and others have, but a different tool line altogether.

Hitachi/Metabo is not in that endless war to produce "the most powerful" tool. They make a commitment to a long life cycle, which is why they warranty them for life and their slogan is Durability First. So they will almost never be first in overall power. I have the same hammer drill, and it is very powerful for what it is...their entry level. It has 620 in/lbs...the next model up has double that, and comes with a handle and metal casing and is probably more what you are expecting.

The business and have done me well for over 25yrs

Their 36v batteries convinced me to switch to HPT for what tools I can. They make a good reliable powerful tool, and their flex batteries opens up a lot more choice of what tool I can buy. I can get the 18v tool if I dont need heavy duty and a 4Ah 36v battery will last all day in it (since it downscales and runs at 8Ah then)....or, I can go for the native 36v tool if i need to.

Yup...if you are going to warranty a tool for life you can't put that thing on the bleeding edge of what power it "can" put out, like these manufactures that only have 2-3yr warranties. In the real world of pros, saving 2 seconds on a 6" lag will typically be secondary to comfort, ergonomics, and reliability.

@@dangrimes5078 I think 12v is a dead platform walking. Most brands are jumping on the subcompact form factors rather than maintaining 12v. Milwaukee is different though, since they are so heavily invested in their M12 line...but everyone else?!? Metabo HPT just released their first subcompacts, they do have a few 12v you can get on Amazon, but I just don't see them pursuing that any further.

Why change the name. When I see it I still see a Hitachi and it doesn't bother me but the name Metabo almost bothers me and I don't know why. It just sounds like a made-up name.

This green metabo is the Metabo HPT that is hitachi made for USA, and is the lower end from Metabo with not such great quality and not so much power as the the dark green Metabo which is the the german thing that is made in german for the whole world and much higher quality and much better than Metabo HPT.

Yeah I was going to say, that’s not how triple hammer works, it’s not like all 3 are making contact at different times, it won’t affect momentum whatsoever. Only distribution of mass over a larger surface area
